Article source: K-Studio Sitting on the ridge of the hill of Aleomandra in Mykonos yet almost entirely hidden from view, Villa Mandra looks straight out to sea and the sunset over the neighbouring island of Delos. A 6-bedroom holiday house built for a young, dynamic couple to enjoy with their family and friends, it celebrates its spectacular view from a grounded viewpoint blended into a sensitively landscaped, stone-walled garden that screens it from the road behind.

Article source: M2.senos_arquitetos All around you can still feel the old farm fields, but this is still a very urban house. The owners inherited the land from their grandparents and decided to build this house on it. A ground floor (or predo minantly ground floor) house that accomplishes the family´s desires. The parcel, with little depth, extends slowly along the street, almost disappearing around the curve.

Article source: Balta Istaba The Māris Štrombergs BMX track in Valmiera, Latvia – named after the two-time Olympic and world champion from Latvia is a significant contribution to both the global sport of BMX and to the regional sports infrastructure of Latvia. ‘This is one of the few BMX tracks in the world designed not only with a focus on UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) regulations and athlete comfort and safety, but also on the aesthetics of the facility’s architecture. In addition to the building being a highly functional sports facility, it also serves as a bold icon of recognition for the city,’ emphasises Ilze Rukmane-Poča, the architect of the new facility.

Article source: a9a rchitects Fang Ting Bookstore is located in OCT O’PARK commercial district, close to Hutaoli. Looking from the street that is close to water, the building’s external facade is a transparent glass curtain wall. The arc’s external wall is half covered with a white metal curtain. Combined with the gradual glass film of the lower half, a delicate balance is achieved between the virtual and the real without affecting the internal lighting. Approaching the outside seating area, a “Book of Longing” opens a mottled brick entrance.

Article source: AEXN Architects The crematorium is located on a flat surface in a field by the forest. The mass concept of the design is a rather sensitive manner – it represents a shallow hill rising from the surface. The crematorium is designed with a metaphor of a burial mound covered with white linen. The volume of the building and its access spaces are separated by embankments of the surrounding landscape. The structure of the roof is reminiscent of a ritual blank that covers architectural volume and tailors it into the surrounding ground. The crematorium building is visible from a distant perspective and becomes the epicenter of the ritual. It calmly invites and releases those who arrive. It is a place of emotional discharge and a quiet transformation subordinate to the eternal time and the experience of eternity.
