Article source: AUX Architecture Once owned by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis, this two-story home built on its rock and roll past to join the most notable modern homes of the Hollywood Hills. A recent renovation transformed it from a mish-mash of architectural styles into a light-filled hillside home that captures enormous views of the nearby Hollywood sign. The home had previously undergone multiple owners and renovations, giving it a mostly Southern California Mediterranean look with a Spanish tile roof and tiny windows. AUX Architecture, led by Brian Wickersham, worked within a budget to produce an impactful and transformative design without structurally changing the home’s rooflines. The main focus was on opening the house up to the Hollywood sign view and emphasizing indoor-outdoor living with lighter and brighter spaces. AUX’s design used a strong contrast between a black exterior and a bright white, museum-quality interior. The home features glass walls (Fleetwood), upgraded cabinets and closets (Poliform), and installed luxury fixtures (Porcelanosa). The result is a completely new look for a home that anchors one of Los Angeles’ most desirable streets.

Article source: A WORK OF SUBSTANCE Like a prism dispersing monochromatic light into a spectrum of colours, khromis is a catalyst for transformation. Each frame empowers the individual to reveal a whole palette of emotions and personalities. Resembling a pair of glasses, the logo is also an expression of refracted light paths. The interior uses mirrors to create reflections and perspective, manoeuvring light to display the product in the best possible way. A touch of wood warms up the interior, along with the coffee bar in the corner, creating a comfortable atmosphere for a multi -sensory experience.

Article source: NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE Moors have always been mystical places full of secrets and drifting moods. The specific characteristic of such a genius loci served as the central design inspiration for noa*’s (network of architecture) project, which entailed the redesign and extension of the former “Moarhof” hotel at the end of the Valser valley, which is surrounded by moorland at about 1,300m altitude. The result of this mystical transformation is the 4-star-S Hotel “Silena”. With its’ swamp-coloured, organically angular and integration into the landscape, it appears to be growing out of the unstable ground as a place of tranquillity, strength and soul, designed down to the smallest detail. The surrounding archaic nature as well as the southeast-asian touch of the interior and the extensive accompanying program, which was specially requested by the client, were the decisive factors for the final outcome.

Article source: Ramon Esteve Estudio The project is based in a revision of the vernacular townhouse, located in the old town of the city. Its interior spaces are arranged around a sequence of hierarchically disposed patios that introduce sunlight into the rooms. As the house opens to these patios, the private life is sheltered in the interior. In spite of this, a special attention has been paid to the façade in order to achieve a complete integration of the house in the local environment.

Article source: NEUMANN MONSON ARCHITECTS This 3,800 sf residence, which occupies the top floor of a converted historic urban warehouse, balances the duality of the clients’ public and private lives through processional layout and spatial contrast. The design assigns bright, open social spaces to the perimeter and encloses private areas with dark tones and rich materiality. The juxtaposition provides the chiaroscuro of the clients’ extensive calligraphic art collection, writ large in space.

Article source: Enter Projects Whilst many workplaces host mundane, boxed offices and an enclosed atmosphere, Time Realty desired an open, inclusive office space that inspired their employees. Enter Projects knew they could make this dream a reality. An open air plan with fluid dynamics and meandering geometrics defines the space, furniture, material and lighting of Time Realty’s newly designed office. The result contrasts greatly with the existing patina walls, with both elements working together to create a vibrant visual experience. Lastly, the installation of gallery areas in the office brings both context and dynamic architecture to the space.
