265 West 45th Street in New York by RB Systems

The project explores a novel and captivating tower typology which emerged in New York in the last years — “The New York’s Super Slender”. Located on a small, currently vacant site on West 45th St which footprint measures at approx. 30x30m only, the tower rises to 400 m in height, and provides modern, ergonomic, sustainable office spaces for multi-floor corporate tenants. The project is another take on a path which skyscraper design will likely be following in the coming years, to meet extreme challenges of constrained and dense city centers, with their shortage of big vacant lots, yet ever-growing demand for new properties.

Belvedere in Montreal, Canada by Desjardins Bherer

The future owners were captivated by this completely glazed, brightly lit space, with Mount Royal as its backdrop, its immense terrace stretching from east to west and a wealth of services close at hand. Located in a 40-floor tower that had been completed just months before, the apartment was still a concrete shell. But it was long and narrow, a layout that did not suit the clients’ needs, so they turned to the Desjardins Bherer team for assistance. The firm reimagined the configuration and layout in order to integrate three bedrooms and a study.

The essence of the space has been completely transformed by the project of this 120 square meters apartment which was previously charcterized by narrow and dark rooms.

The lighting design emphasises the main architectural elements, while giving depth and continuity to the several functional areas. The big sliding walls that separate the different rooms allow a flexible use of space, depending on the clients’ changing needs.

Changi’s airport terminal 4 “theatre of experience’ in Singapore by Moment Factory

Article source: v2com

Singapore’s Changi Airport, voted by air travellers as the World’s Best Airport (Skytrax) for the sixth consecutive year, is taking its passenger experience to a new level with Terminal 4. As part of their quest for excellence, Changi Airport Group commissioned Moment Factory to produce two media features designed to entertain passengers as they navigate the airport’s remarkable interior.

From optical illusions to cinematic storytelling, the architectural media features transform the least-appreciated travel moments into surprises of delight and discovery. Passing through security screening, travellers are enveloped by an immersive media wall with a variety of content capsules that transform the ambiance. Picturesque high altitude landscapes alternate with virtual bas-relief sculptures that subtly come to life. In the heritage zone, real and virtual traditional shop house façades create an authentic backdrop for local culture and storytelling. Appearing static at first, the two LED façades spring to life with an engaging neighbourhood love story that brings two Peranakan families together.

L’Accostée House is located in the Adstock area, on the shores of Lac St-François. The clients have lived on this beautiful site for a few years and enjoy aquatic activities on the lake. Since their original house was in poor condition and becoming too small for their growing family, they decided to rebuild while preserving the natural surroundings and keeping the open space on the edge of the lake.
