An Attic for David in Barcelona, Spain by MH.AP Studio

Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

Article source: MH.AP Studio

David’s Attic in Barcelona features an abundance of built-in furniture and storage elements made from matte-finish MDF, and carefully-positioned mirrors to make the home appear more spacious.

As we entered to the original flat we felt disappointed with the 1970’s configuration of the 70-square-metre flat. “What a shame that the terrace is not connected to the living room!” We noted. The apartment had a long corridor and an adjoining row of small, dark rooms that weren’t taking advantage of sunlight from the outdoor terrace. Our main goal was to broaden the home without losing any rooms.

Loft & Studio for Marcel in Barcelona, Spain by MH.AP Studio

Wednesday, March 11th, 2020

Article source: MH.AP Studio

An abandoned 100m2 storage space in a basement of a building from the 50’s in Barcelona turned into a loft & studio: a project that develops around two patios: a bigger one with loads of light, and a smaller that ensures good crossed natural ventilation.

The living area is parallel to the big patio, 13’5x4m originally built with Catalan vaults ceiling to be maintained. A small shed located in the big patio used to cover 1/2 of the patio, but to gain more natural light, it’s reduced to 1/4th of the area. This is where Marcel’s room is located, looking at the outdoor shower and the planters. Industrial Oak flooring was chosen for its aesthetic coherence with the existing form.

Kálida Sant Pau Center in Barcelona, Spain by Miralles Tagliabue EMBT

Sunday, February 23rd, 2020

Article source: Miralles Tagliabue EMBT

The Kálida Centre is a space of emotional, social and practical support for cancer patients and people around them. It is a home opened to everyone, where qualified professionals offer their help. A house to meet other people, a house where to find a quiet retreat or to have a cup of tea.

The plot is located between the new hospital and the original Art Nouveau buildings. It is parallel to a new road defined by the special urban plan of the area and follows the orthogonal plan of the original project. The project includes a small 400 m2 building and a wide garden within the general green area of the building complex. The fundamental idea of the project is to plant some new coloured flowers in the garden of the original hospital, and so the centre is designed as a garden pavilion where the boundaries between interior and exterior blur and vary. The building offers privacy, light, retreat and protection around the garden.

For PUFF in Barcelona, Spain by MH.AP Studio

Friday, February 21st, 2020

Article source: MH.AP Studio

Fittings, shootings, casting PUFF is a film studio with three technically equipped & soundproofed rooms for these uses. The corridor, also used as a waiting space, runs along with the premises, from the reception -hidden behind a set of mirrors, controlling the access- up to the two-level production room.

A topography of dropped ceilings in navy-blue hides the installations (A/C, electrical,…) and adjusts the spatial proportions throughout the project. This visual & formal game, rendered in navy-blue cork, reduces the sound impact outside the film studios and enhances the acoustic comfort.

TR House in Barcelona, Spain by PMMT Architecture

Friday, February 7th, 2020

Article source: PMMT

TR House Barcelona is a single-family house with a compact morphology. Its shape is the answer to the limitations presented by the preexisting conditions, combined with an innovative solution and with solid functionality criteria. In light of the urban planning constrains of this site and once it is situated on a depressed area, we had to solve an accentuated slope between the main entrance and the access to the house, creating two levels of access; one inferior and one intermediate. Trough slopes and ramps that establish different relations between the landscape, the house and its interiors, we’ve tried to minimize the big impact of the gap between the main entrance and the lower part of the site.

Tibidabo Welcom Square in Barcelona, Spain by MIAS Architects

Friday, January 24th, 2020

Article source: MIAS Architects

The project proposes the reorganization of the main welcome space of the park. The new Plaza del Tibidabo acts as a prelude to the character and philosophy of the amusement park and the Collserola mountain.

The proposal proposes a public space that allows the different elements of the park to be organized, as well as a place to hold events and welcome visitors.

The project is built as a large continuous carpet of precast concrete paving stones that extend throughout the main space as an element that homogenizes and allows the placement of all the different objects – fast food places, ice cream, drinks and games; which are randomly positioned according to the client needs.
