The Museum of 20th Century in Berlin, Germany by Architects of Invention

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

Article source: Architects of Invention

MAIN IDEA

The LANDSCAPE BUILDING concept was conceived as a subtle exchange; it is a terrain itself. The building uses every aspect of its construction for navigation and art exhibition. The roof slopes are pedestrian walkways and they form a sculpture park. (The gradients of sculpture park give many different observation angles for users to apprehend the sculptural work on display.) The views from these roof gradients onto the surrounding buildings and parkland also give the idea that this building is a piece of landscape itself.

Article source: IFUB *

2007 four friends from Bavaria (southern german state), sat together in germanys capital city Berlin. They decided to do something against their notorious shortage of fellow players in “Schafkopf“, a card game only popular in Bavaria. The simple solution was the website www.sauspiel.de that soon became extremely popular. Seven years later the team had already grown to 14 people, meaning that the old office was not big enough any more.

20TH CENTURY ART MUSEUM in Berlin, Germany by Rafi Segal A+U Landscape Architect: Susannah Drake (Dlandstudio)

Article source: Rafi Segal A+U Landscape Architect: Susannah Drake (Dlandstudio)

Competition entry for Berlin’s Museum of 20th Century Art to be located in the Kulturforum district. The project proposes a series of pavilions, public spaces and gardens connected and unified by a greenhouse structure. Serving both a symbolic and functional purpose, our project conceives this public building as a space that one could see through and into, creating a new kind of public space where 20th Century Art’s fascination with the abstract is met with the elements of nature and the figures of the city.

Reinventing a space, demolishing the old and to approach the clients needs and wishes nowadays always requires a innovative idea.

A box can contain what you place in it, but most importantly can become what you brew of it. From this basic rethinking of the interior shell the Brew Box pad design scheme emerged.

LIVEBOAT – Chapter 5 in Berlin, Germany by Plastique Fantastique

Tuesday, October 18th, 2016

Article source: Plastique Fantastique

Taking his trident in both hands, Poseidon stirs the sea into a fury and lashes up rain and squall.
Mast and sail are torn away, Odysseus is thrown overboard and buried under a wall of water.
When he emerges gasping and sputtering, he somehow manages to clamber back aboard.
A goddess, Leucothea, appears to him in the form of a bird.
She counsels him to swim for it.
“Take my veil, tie it around your waist as a charm against drowning.
When you reach shore, be sure to throw it back into the sea.”

Luther Memorial Berlin in Germany by Zeller & Moye

Thursday, July 14th, 2016

Article source: Zeller & Moye

A new memorial for Martin Luther will be constructed in central Berlin at the former Neuer Markt next to the St.Marienkirche. The winning proposal of the international competition ‘Luther-Denkmal 2017’ refers in its spatial arrangement to the historical Luther memorial that was destroyed during WWII. Like a mirror image of the original memorial, a negative volume is embossed into the ground. It points to Berlin’s history and emphasises the importance of public space for the society. Looking closely at the steps and the edge detailing, the original shapes of the former memorial become visible as negative imprints. However, the new memorial is not at all a reconstruction of the old one, but presents itself as a contemporary and sculpturally composed memorial in its own right.
