Two spaces with double height, clashing with each other, allow full connection between the 3 levels of the house. The goal is to promote a situation where its residents relatively know where the others are, so they can seek interaction or individuality. Each place has a single edge which mainly focused illumination. Similar sizes, the variation in time of day and orientation of the opening promotes a type and quantity of light for each specific place.

São Paulo. In this city, which contemporaneity is able to perform the most extraordinary urban contrasts for us, living can reveal an encouraging condition. In search of a place where this could be experienced, the idea of an elementary residence acquires the character of a happening. Thus, as this house decided to silently place itself at the westerly metropolitan meanders, is how it is presented at Maracanã Street.

Offset House in Sao Paulo, Brazil by Shieh Arquitetos Associados

Saturday, February 23rd, 2013

Article source: Shieh Arquitetos Associados

The house is a direct result of the site’s complicated geometry. In plan, perimetral lines are given by the highest possible occupation of the property, discounting setbacks (restrained either by municipal legislation, or by the neighborhood regulation). Thus the nickname Offset House: a house that is the reflection of the sides of the lot.

Plot 40 House in São Paulo, Brazil by Tacoa Arquitetos

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

Article source: Tacoa Arquitetos

The São Roque residence was designed based on two constraints: it should take full advantage of the southern view of the lot with an average slope of twenty percent, and be a single-floor dwelling. As a site for the house and the immediate yard, a thirty by thirty meter area was leveled to a height of three meters below the highest point of the lot, based on a calculation of equal amounts of excavation and landfill, using retaining walls reinforced with geo-grids.

Saturday, February 2nd, 2013

Article source: GCP Arquitetos

The Nau Royal building design was based upon very cleary assumptions: functional programing, simple and clear lines tipology, but with a strong formal expression, connection with its spetacular surroundings and sustainability. The party consideres the existing natural landscape and views as a key element to the project, therefore, adopting modern brazilian architecture principles, such as the use of large openings protected by “brise-soleil balconies”, framing from one side of the building, the mountains covered by rain forest and from the opposite side, the Cambury beach and the Atlantic ocean.
