BIGWICH in Chandigarh, India by Design Equilibrium

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: Design Equilibrium

Client Brief

The client wished for an eatery which served vegetarian food in  a comfortable informal setting, a setting which feels and is accessible to all cadres of soceity, where the outlook of the project does not depict or is least suggestive of any certain style or form of interiors. The plain contemporary or industrial design approach was too bland for their taste. So, they put forward guidelines where the interiors should be lively and  reflective of the brand ideology ; affordable food, experimentation and the interiors would reflect a sense of community, equality and bonhomie.

Designed as a nuclear family residence for a couple and their three children, Gurmail residence is envisaged as a quiet, natural retreat in sync with the latest technological aspects for the globally travelled techie client.  Answering the challenge of creating a simple, automated yet distinguished design complying with the strict by-laws of the city, we decided to utilize the assets like a corner plot, favorable wind direction and excellent views to a well manicured garden in the front, to their maximum.

Twin Courtyard house in Chandigarh, India by Charged Voids

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Article source: Charged Voids

To design a house for a family of ten people spanning three generations.

The house is an attempt to blur the boundaries between exterior and the interior of an urban house. The concept of the house is an illustration of a metamorphosis of eastern spatial interiors and western aesthetics. It was designed for two brothers, on two separate levels yet connected without exposing oneself to the harsh weather conditions.
