With the condition of the project’s site location having 20 meters width and 80 meters long which is considered as a challenging land type in the design of single detached houses in the city. One of design criteria comes from the owner’s request, he loves to write and read books and always exercises to keep himself to be in a good health. We have imagined this house which has a very private, serenity, and a lot of greenery space, and integrating with exercising units (gym, outdoor swimming pool, and running track).

Article source: 2929DesignLab

This House is located on the excusive village called Baan Ing Doi. The original architectural style of this village was inspired by English Countryside Style, in particular the style of the large covering roof and small dormers. Integration between the new and the existing is our important goal. Our design is based on our principle Tropical Minimal/Modern – has been inserted into the form of English Countryside Traditional house.

NT House in Chiang Mai, Thailand by 2929DesignLab

Monday, December 28th, 2020

Article source: 2929DesignLab

NT house is located in the early housing project (established around 1960) in Chiang Mai city, which is in the vicinity of DoiSuthep (the most important mountain of Chiang Mai). Not only because of the location wise, but also because the personality of two owners who love peace, nature and privacy can be regarded as significant factors in designing this house. The design was primarily chosen to respond to both project contexts – to create a view that can appreciate nature – and the complete privacy of the house.

Little Shelter Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand by Department of ARCHITECTURE Co.

Wednesday, May 29th, 2019

Article source: Department of ARCHITECTURE Co.

Little Shelter Hotel is located in a quiet corner of Chiang Mai, the former capital of the ancient Lanna Kingdom.  The city is rich with tradition, culture, and craft.  The old cityscape and its vernacular architecture are characterized by wood structure with shingle pitched roof.  The site is only a short drive from the 700-year-old ancient city wall.  It is a small plot surrounded by large trees, facing the Ping river on the west and a quiet alley on the east.

The simple building volume is formed straightforwardly by set-back and height restrictions.  The roof form inspired by traditional hip roofs as homage to the local architecture has a little reinterpretation with an asymmetrical form blending naturally with the surrounding tree top silhouette.  The west side of the roof is partially carved out to become a roof deck for the guests to enjoy the panoramic river view at sunset.
