The Phoenix Village of Artistic Countryside in Shandong province, China by guanzhu LA

Phoenix Village, the regeneration of abandoned village

Located in Shandong province Rizhao city in China, Phoenix Villages is a rural overall construction project, and a hollow village regeneration practice. It was designed and built by Kong Xiangwei with his Guanzhuscape design team all the way. The village was originally called Du jiaping, which was a typical stone-made settlement in southeastern Shandong. In the process of urbanization, the village is abandoned, most of the old houses are collapsed, and more than a dozen old houses are left. Phoenix villages are positioned as a Rural Art District overall, including B&B hotels and artist studios, and contain cultural space such as forest art gallery, water theater, hilltop church, hillside garden, library and museum. It also includes recreational space such as teahouse, café, restaurant, and children’s commune, and it has left an area to create an old-house museum.

The overall design concept: the combination of protection and regeneration. Retaining the relics, old buildings and trees, adding bold new elements into them, and keeping the texture of the street and courtyard. In the use of materials, they use warm yellow old stones, concrete and weathering steel plates from the collapsed old houses to pursue the authenticity of materials; as for the landscape, they use old materials, and plant weeds; they use modern language as the spatial and architectural language.

Ideal Space in Shenyang, China by Robot 3 Studio

Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

Article source: Robot 3 Studio

The location of the project is in Plaza 66, Zhongjie Street, Shenyang. Two walls were built in the house in the street, a wall divides inside and outside, a wall divides the left and right direction. The “Wall” is in our hearts all the time, giving us shelter, imprisonment and hope. The two walls create a dream, the wall are transparent, and the long wall are stretched. The space between the walls is determined and blurred, but visible to each other. It is possible and hope, not imprisoned and closed. The long wall that stretches outside to the house is a guidance and the wall can be living, not just a divider or reference.

YOU+International Youth Community in Shenzhen, China by office project

Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

Article source: office project

Under the trend of “no real estate speculation”, the urban leasing industry has ushered in a period of great transformation. From renting a room to a good house to a desired lifestyle, people’s understanding of life in the city will gradually rise to a new more valued one. As to the proposition that urban culture will become the lifestyle itself, we try to explore the future through a series of research-based residential design practices. Through the “Piston Room”, we discussed the time utilization of the Beijing ant tribe’s apartment space. Through the “Capsule Home”, we’ve thought about the possibility of new space in the city’s extreme collection capsules. In 2016, we had a chance to systematically explore the “living organism” of a complete city, which gave birth to the ” Home on the Roof ” of Shenzhen Yuanzheng industrial park.

Design has become and will be more and more the keyword of our world and our next worlds. The word will be the carrier of the thinking processes towards new societies. It is about the phase before production. It is about the thinking before the making. Design products change our world and so do the machines that produce new products. A society led by design is under endless construction and in an expanding smartening universe, there is an emergence of a new world of digitized making.

Shenzhen Oriental Garden Villa Chamber in Guangdong, China by Co-Direction Design

Monday, January 15th, 2018

Article source: Co-Direction Design

Between city and nature, between fast and slow. The Oriental Garden, located in the Overseas Chinese Town, is the first villa area in Shenzhen and witnesses this modern city’s 30-year developing history from a fishing village. With low density and high greening rate, the Oriental Garden is endowed with the feeling of withdrawing from the city. The designers of Co-Direction have always been living and working in this area, they have a special emotion for this project. Combined with oriental context and contemporary design, they transformed the old house into the chamber space. The space environment, light and quality make people feel peaceful, the “quietness” in the noisy downtown is just the expression of the space. The slow lifestyle in the space has taken root in the fast pace of the city, which has spacious space and transparent green.

TFD Restaurant in Guangzhou, China by Leaping Creative

Sunday, January 14th, 2018

Article source: Leaping Creative

Guangzhou based renowned lifestyle store brand TFD (The Fashion Door) is adding a restaurant to its business, Leaping Creative believes that the space should indicate the brand’s fashion sense and at the same time provide its customers with an unordinary dining experience.

Rather than following the popular trend of industrial or Nordic interior style in China, Leaping Creative is inspired by fashion designers and their love for black and white as well as their trick of using dots, lines and planes. We aim to create a minimalist, intriguing dining space.
