Rather frequently, large working spaces are organized as labyrinthine corridors. They are conceived either as open plans without properly identified areas or as consecutive private rooms that hardly foster communication. Every day, we spend large amounts of energy walking from A to B and back to A, feeling disoriented and sending e-mails to a person sitting just ten meters away from us.
In 2016, LATITUDE was commissioned to design a workspace of 1,100 square meters for the law department of Hopson Development Holdings, a renowned Chinese corporation. Trusting us with such an important endeavor, we approached the complex issue from the user’s point of view.

Elegance is harmony, similar to beauty. Simply, beauty is a gift from God, but elegance is an ideal result of art; elegance was born in the process of cultural cultivation, and grown in it as well.”

The world of wildlife
This is the world of grass, animal and god. The imagination and curiosity of human beings towards grasslands is always fresh. Stage of Forest, located at Songhua Lake Resort in Ji Lin,is situated on a hillside between the forest and the slope. The site is surrounded by luscious greenery in summer and covered by an overwhelming white snow in winter. As is a delicate site for a “Land(scape) Mark”, one whose indefinite programming demands a careful degree of deliberation. The location and triangle shape of the “stage” was only determined after precise examination and deduction of the site condition, to minimize the impact for the existing vegetation and to maximize the view on the platform. While sitting on the hill, it is facing the Songhua lake at a distance, who is famous for the rime in its surrounding areas.
