The main aspects of this design project were to keep the look simple and casual, with a modern and high class touch and with emphasis on the reception desk.

CHALLENGE

Masader Arabian decided to open a branch in Egypt and therefore purchased a floor of an apartment building. The Project Director, Mohammed Moktader was looking for an architectural company that would remodel and convert the apartment into an office. The two room apartment would have to be converted to an office with a reception, exhibition and waiting room, General Manager’s room, meeting room and rooms for the employees. The client was looking for a modern yet subtle look.

Reviving the Vision

One hundred fifty years ago, Khedive Ismail imagined a progressive urban scheme for Cairo that brought the city to the forefront of the world. This projects attempts to revive his vision in a current way. It brings back the once exciting landscape of Azbakia Garden, including a lake, artificial hills, thousands of lights, and spaces for musical performances. A spectacular Opera House and a range of artistic spaces offer the city cultural delights. New transportation structures, underground parking, a tramway, and pleasant pedestrian spaces allow for convenient and efficient access. Finally, contemporary architecture and high-rises lend an image to the area that rivals with any world-class city.

Cairo National Library in Egypt by Seeding Office

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Article source: Seeding Office

Traditionally, Egypt was known as the gift of the Nile, ever since Herodotus simply stated that “without the Nile, there is no Egypt, because where the Nile overflows its banks, the land is green, and where the water’s influence stops, the desert begins. Egypt is the Gift of the Nile, the only place in the world where a river dares to cut across a thousand miles of desert to reach the sea, creating a civilization along its course”.

We have chosen Water as a symbolic guide for the whole project, aiming to evoke the deepest roots of Egyptian culture and imagine the building itself as an element generated by the river’s life.

Stone Towers in Cairo, Egypt by Zaha Hadid Architects

Friday, June 1st, 2012

Article source: Zaha Hadid Architects

Set between ring road and residential area, Stone Towers avoids the monolithic repetition of static building masses – comprising higher structures, articulated through a series of ‘ripples’ to create North Edge Buildings and lower, softer ‘ribbons’ at South Edge Buildings – a central, outdoor landscape, the ‘Delta’ fusing these key elements.

Stone Towers, named for an ancient petrified tree at the heart of this new development, comprises state of the art office facilities for a rapidly expanding city, alongside a five star hotel, serviced apartments, restaurants, bars and a central landscaped area, the ‘Delta’.
