The house is conceived as a series of pavilions held together along a strong central circulation spine. This spine also helps divide the served from service spaces of the house; the former located in front with the latter behind separated by the circulation spine

Cest La Vie in Alibagh, India by Atelier Design N Domain

Wednesday, August 9th, 2017

Article source: Atelier Design N Domain

A Second homes are about creating an oasis from the hectic pace of urban city life. A site blessed with vegetation and seasonal lake provided the perfect setting for this project. At the entrance were a clump of trees that provided for a grand entry and also created just the necessary buffer for the house from the Main Street. The driveway snaked its way past the canopy of trees to the entrance/arrival court where you are received by a curved stone wall.

The House by the Trees in Ahmedabad, India by MODO Designs

Friday, July 21st, 2017

Article source: MODO Designs

The ‘House by the Trees’ is a gathering and retreat place for a Gujarati family on the outskirts of Ahmedabad set amidst the existing neem, chikoo and amla trees. The brief given was to have a spacious and open place yet addressing security concerns.

Our primary concern was to weave the house layout with the existing trees, resulting into some trees within the house courts and some trees along its edge and thus random location of existing trees defined the extents of the house.

Jade Blue Office in Ahmedabad, India by DCA Architects

Thursday, July 20th, 2017

Article source: DCA Architects

The design brief called for a corporate office for this renowned Indian fashion brand in order to represent their contemporary design ideology and their core values while crafting a simplistic yet dynamic and flexible work environment.

The challenge was to create a cohesive space and maintain the conventional appeal as defined in the design brief. Inheriting a low building height, and a very odd floor plate that is apparent in the plans, the challenge was also to optimize the spatial arrangement. At DCA, we believe that every challenge has to be converted into an opportunity. Thus, the challenge of a very spread out floor plate has been converted into an opportunity by creating two separate entrances-one for the overall office and the other for the top management. The two wings house the main office and the top management separately, and hence enable ease of access from the two entrances. The intent is to maximize the daylight penetration as well, and hence most rooms barring a couple, get sufficient daylight.
