Article source: Edifice Consultants

Located in NOIDA, on the 6th floor of a commercial building, Inshorts is a young media company, with an energetic vibe. With a creative and young team as well as a 24×7 operations, the client’s brief called for a set up that would energise the young crowd, aid the open office culture and work well within tight budgetary constraints of setting up the office. Founded by three IIT drop-outs, the intent was to have a space that would emulate the idea of a home; wherein the reception would manifest itself as the drawing room, the cafe would translate into the dining room, etc. With an existing office on the 4th floor of the same building, sufficient and insightful feedback was shared by the client on their spatial requirements including common requirements such as team briefing spaces, and unique requirements such as acoustic barriers between the gaming areas and the working areas. Such customized inputs  enriched the brief.

The Pink Zebra in Kanpur, India by RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO

Article source: RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO

Merging Funk into Details – A Concoction of Design Theories.

The Pink Zebra aka Feast India Co. (FIC) is a take on the bygone British Culture in the city of Cawnpore. With the extravagance of the European Grandeur, not many know how important the city of Cawnpore(now Kanpur) was to the British Corporation of India. The design story initiates the change over time by re-writing an architectural essay through this space amalgamation of old with the quirkiness of  Art Nouveau glitz (which can be seen throughout the city)

The Tetrisception in New Delhi, India by RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO

Friday, April 6th, 2018

Article source: RENESA ARCHITECTURE DESIGN INTERIORS STUDIO

Learning environments are ever growing and changing. There is a growing awareness among societies and culture for pre-schools to be diverse and provide learning environments through the built form. As learning spaces re-focus on team-based, interdisciplinary learning, they are moving away from standardized , one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. Instead, it is becoming a norm that students learn in a variety of ways, and the differences be supported. Students often learn better by doing it themselves, so teachers are there to facilitate, not just to instruct. Here, the built Tetris-ized environment becomes an enabler and a catalyst to nurture the young minds of pre-school students.

B-one in Bangalore, India by Cadence Architects

Wednesday, December 13th, 2017

Article source: Cadence Architects

The residence sits in an urban fabric where the immediate context is a busy street and a lack of foliage for the house to respond to. The house is designed on a plot measuring 45’x90’, located in a typical Indian neighbourhood flanking the busy street. The dense residential fabric of the neighbourhood, proximity of the neighbours and the busy street in front prompted the conception of an introverted building. Diagrammatically, the program of the house is laid out in the form an ‘H-shaped plan’ that wraps around a courtyard such that each arm of the ‘H’ flanks the courtyard. The open to sky courtyard, a highly sustainable element, not only becomes the point of interest and activity within the house, but also represents the ‘outside’ within the introverted house. The pergolas help shade the double height space and cut the glare, while the green wall helps in reducing the heat. The court is an oasis not just for light but for fresh air as well, where hot air escapes and fresh air comes through. Acting as a light well, the court enables the user to have a macro oasis within the house. The interiority of the house is designed to revolve around the experience of the garden, similar to that of a conventional courtyard/thotti house.
