Generator Rome in Rome, Italy by DesignAgency

Thursday, January 5th, 2017

Article source: DesignAgency

Generator Rome is only a short walk from the Colosseum and Termini Station, in the Esquilino neighbourhood – one of the oldest areas in the city. The property reinvigorates an elegant 20th century residence on Via Principe Amedeo. Its surroundings include cinematic streetscapes, leading to picturesque squares, churches, parks and a vast array of bars, cafés and pizzerias, as well as authentic local markets.

DesignAgency took its inspiration from the distinctive flavours of this diverse and historic neighbourhood, as well as the Italian culture and the Roman trade routes that have left their marks on this area to create a vibrant and welcoming environment with subtle ethnic flair.

A Studio in Bassano del Grappa, Italy by Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

Thursday, January 5th, 2017

Article source: Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

The studio was designed starting from the conviction that the rooms were to be designed as boxes, composed in turn by sides and surfaces, evocative from a figurative point of view. Two coloured backdrops were in fact made with shades of blue and sage green, on the other side a wall-moodboard with the notes and suggestions of the projects which are work in process. The presence of the old stone portal was resolved by keeping the traces of the old paint, as opposed to the perfection of the bottom of the wall. The old Venetian floorings and the geometric fishbone pattern of the wooden parquet were preserved and enhanced. The furniture arrangement was designed keeping in mind the functional distances and movements in the studio, with a division between the functional and the more operative spaces and the formal  reception rooms.

RG House in San Zenone degli Ezzelini, Italy by Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016

Article source: Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

The project involved the renovation and extension of an attic developed on three levels located in a hilly area. The main objective was to design a new access to the attic, independent from the rest of the large family house built in the ’90s. A new volume porch with a double height was created, fitting to the house containing the entry staircase which from the garden leads to the covered terrace. The interiors see a large living area with a kitchen integrated to the living room, three bedrooms with their bathrooms, composed in a sequence as a sort of promenade, with an organizational and spatial arrangement reminiscent of a raumplan. To increase the sense of spaciousness and brightness of the rooms, the old wooden beams were painted in opaque enamel.  Quality materials have been used as with the ipe’ wood planks for the exterior, the porcelain tiles of various shapes and colours for the bathrooms; some other elements already in place such as the afromosia parquet and the Asiago stone were instead given new shine.

RM HOUSE in Romano d’Ezzelino, Italy by Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

Article source: Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

The main aspect the attention of this project was focused upon, was the pursuit of  the characterization of the living area, which was rethought according to the “coating” of the existing central pillar. The identification of the new “appearance,” has made it possible to determine and distinguish two specific living areas and to create at the same time a new volume / container which services the TV area. New recessed light fixtures and “blades” of indirect light, consisting of hidden LED strips have been installed. New flooring made of knotty oak has also made it possible to level out the spaces which were previously fragmented by continuous visual discontinuities, determined by the different floor surfaces. All the service areas have been modernized thanks to the use of new materials and surfaces, such as the use of large slabs of porcelain stoneware and coloured enamels.

Tre.3 in Legnago, Italy by Studio Athesis

Sunday, December 25th, 2016

Article source: Studio Athesis

The building is adjacent to the historic city center of Legnago. The project includes a modern re-interpretation of the sixteenth and seventeenth-century buildings situated in the historic centers of our cities. The new volume fits into the already-existing buildings with such proportions as to mediate between the impressive volumes present in the rear part of the parcel and the relatively-small houses overlooking the perimeter. The main façade overlooking Via G. Martino, is marked by full and empty spaces with three full parts separated by two pillared loggias; the building is volumetrically symmetric with respect to the central axis of the main body. The vertical division is also tripartite according to ancient traditions: rustication on the lower part, plaster in the middle with a window-framed cornice at the top (skyline). In the main body are some embedded, proportioned red balconies that become the adornment of the façade. The building slopes down in the rear, this forming terraces at different levels, providing ample, exposed spaces available to users.

Alessandro Manzoni lived in numerous houses, but the only one that can be considered really his is the mansion in Via Morone in Milan, where the writer lived from 1814 up till his death. The building, which had been badly altered in the course of time, has now been restored in such a way as to re-establish the warm and domestic atmosphere in which Manzoni’s literary output was produced.

CT HOUSE in Bassano del Grappa, Italy by Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

Sunday, December 25th, 2016

Article source: Studio di Architettura Claude Petarlin

This renovation project has involved a detached house integrated in an urban context located in the outskirts of Bassano. It’s a house built on 3 levels with large windows overlooking the garden. The spaces were reorganized and elegant natural materials inspired by the years of construction of the house, were used throughout. The addition of unique pieces of design makes it more contemporary, while maintaining its original identity at the same time. A sole wooden flooring  levels out all the surfaces and the use of soft yet firm tones colours conveys the feeling of a warm atmosphere despite the wide spaces and the white of much of the finish.

Lamborghini Factory in Bologna, Italy by MA2

Thursday, December 22nd, 2016

Article source: MA2

The composition for both proposals are a series of torqued surfaces with composite component assemblies as it main feature. These assemblages are dynamic members of a formal complexity that resonate with the image of speed and the Lamborghini stealth body. Roundabout proposal one is focused on the curvatures of fluid dynamics expressed in solid form. Theses curvatures flow around the monument where the viewer can experience these torqued envelopes through its spaces that it creates.  Roundabout proposal two is conceptualized to resemble features in the current Lamborghini models. The features of interest are the elegance of the engine and vector geometric shelled surface. It combines these elements into a configuration of flight and shelter. In conclusion both operate as a nexus of stealth dynamics and matrix vertices for Lamborghini.
