“House in Hanekita” in Okazaki, Japan by Katsutoshi Sasaki + Associates

Tuesday, November 11th, 2014

Article source: Katsutoshi Sasaki + Associates

It is the plan for a double family home in a tranquil residential area. My interest is in how the connection between the individual residence and surrounding public area is reflected to the house plan. In this house’s case there was a park adjacent to the north border of the site, so I wanted to put emphasis on the relationship between the house and the park as an everyday playground for children as well as a borrowing landscape for the house. So I put the opening with sliding doors on the north face of the building to secure the continuity of the traffic line and the view, while setting up a wider entrance and level difference so that the residents can enjoy hanami (Cherry blossom viewing) in spring from the interior of the house. In addition, the exterior environment is gradually connected to the interior through buffering spaces of the earthen-floor entrance on the north and the private garden on the south. Two households are separated by the volume housing staircase room and storage between east and west, marked off flexibly by sliding doors set on the south side between two households. These doors are often opened during the daytime, making the entire floor a mobile playground where children can freely run around across the households.

Toshin Satelite Preparatory School in Kobe, Japan by Matsuya Art Works.co.ltd.

Sunday, November 9th, 2014

Article source: Matsuya Art Works.co.ltd.

The building designed as the new school building for the Toshin Satellite Preparatory School is a rental property in an area with a high concentration of girls’ schools, with our client, Matsuo Gakuin, occupying the building as a tenant. The building in question faces a bustling shopping street which also serves as a busy school route for students. The exterior of the building facing the shopping district is made entirely of glass. It was anticipated that the impression created by the interior design of the building, visible to students passing by the glass exterior, would have a positive impact on increasing student enrollment numbers.

Sunday, November 9th, 2014

Article source: Moriyuki Ochiai Architects

The following interior design was realized for a restaurant built on a farm surrounded by a lush forest.

Since the menu is characterized by the fact that dairy products, such as cheese and yogurt, made from fresh milk produced on-site at the dairy farm is used in each and all of their dishes, we were tasked with providing a space to attractively showcase said menu by evoking the imagery associated with the power of fresh ingredients and the natural setting of the forest surrounding the farm on which these quality products are made throughout the entire space.

House N in Gifu, Japan by Naoya Kitamura Architecture Office

Tuesday, October 28th, 2014

Article source:  Naoya Kitamura Architecture Office

The site where the client grew up is the rice paddies away a little from the urban areas, It is a region that is wooden houses built sparsely. It is a place where old-fashioned landscape of Japan remains. Client demand is to be able to support the number of people even changed, and spaciously place. And it had room on the size of the site, the plan is a unique, such as spread around in one stroke. The house has a space that can be both as felt like a one-room, and as felt between the room be connected to all generous. If the number of family members is few, it can be used as a living whole. If the number of family members is often, can be used as a private room by partitioning large door or accordion curtain. In addition, small garden has been made by the plan has been uneven, a lot of windows are opened to the long outer wall in various directions, therefore, garden, countryside, into the sky and mountains, feel the spread. Each of which people is spent in their own way in the plaza. I aimed to make a such an open space.
