A residence standing on a narrow corner lot in the southern part of Osaka. The client wished for a music room for his wife, who teaches gospel music, and a place where many friends could gather.  Due to strict regulations because of the narrow width of the road, the site area was limited to 47 m2 but we tried to adjust the form as much as possible in configuring the interior.

House in Yoro, Gifu, Japan by Airhouse Design Office

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

Article source: Airhouse Design Office

One of our client’s major requirements was for a living space where the presence of the family would always be felt. In response, we devised a single-roomed layout without columns that took advantage of the distinctive features of the existing warehouse. A large kitchen was installed to cater to the needs of the food-loving husband-and-wife couple. We then conceived the entire living space by taking the kitchen as a focal point, with a mix of various other activities and functions unfolding around it.

The mountainside property is surrounded by vast rice paddies and fields for growing vegetables, and a narrow waterway winding around them. Between these fields are scattered houses and sheds. On what was previously a rice paddy, we planned to build a one-story house to be lived in by our coworker’s family of four.

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

Article source: Yasui Hideo Atelier

I was requested, after winning through the competition, to design a facility accompanied to the museum of Hiroshi SENJU, a world-famous Japanese painter/artist. Before I started the actual planning, I prioritized building my conceptual work first ( i.e. geometrical shape containing both traditional and modern forms ) in order to make my design coexist on the same site with the museum that had a curved form interpreting Karuizawa ’s nature in a elegant way.
