Villa G in Vilnius, Lithuania by Audrius Ambrasas Architects

Sunday, February 1st, 2015

Article source: Audrius Ambrasas Architects

The main architectural idea was provided by its siting in the Pavilniai Regional Park : the house has to dissolve in the landscape. Curved roofs all the way to the ground, and fluid forms extended by timber pergolas, are the most important architectural means achieving this effect. The building is designed on one level. Two boomerang shapes with pitched roofs combined with a shared common zone covered with a flat roof create its spatial expression. The utility zone is located in the northern part (a shed and garage, kitchen, storage room, boiler room, laundry). Four bedrooms and a bathroom face east. The common zone is located in the southwest. The dining-room, recreational and active zones are planned here. There is a terrace behind glass cases under the extended roof.

House in Vilnius, Lithuania by AKETURI ACHITEKTAI

Tuesday, January 27th, 2015

Article source: AKETURI ACHITEKTAI

A house that is integrated into a densly urbanised slope of a historic Vilnius suburban area dictates a new quality and aesthetics. The structure comes in contrast with it‘s surrounding architecture – wooden wreckage from the beggining of the 20th century and gigantic residential houses of early Lithuanian indepencende years that might remind a small school rather than a residential house. Even so, the house remains cultured, eligible and appropriate while firmly stating the new level of architectural value.

Rolling Homes in Svencelė, Lithuania by DO architects

Saturday, December 6th, 2014

Article source: DO architects

Summer never ends in the rolling homes of Svencelė. These dynamic and playful houses reflect the relaxed atmosphere of their seaside location as well as the progressive and dynamic people who will choose to call them home. The noticeable form of each rolling home facilitates a clever plan layout over three surprisingly efficient levels. Transparent facades allow for uninterrupted views of the surrounding canals and ensure a strong connection, both visual and physical, between the occupant and nature. The closed sides of the buildings, however, maintain privacy among neighbours. Internal space and natural light are maximised by the expanding cylindrical volume of each house. All of the required conveniences for an exclusive modern lifestyle are provided in the eye catching rolling homes, which combined with their stunning natural location create a desirable place to live.

Public Library of A.& M. Miskiniai in Utena, Lithuania by 4PLIUS architects

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014

Article source: 4PLIUS architects

The idea behind this project was simple and symbolic at the same time: books, the essence of knowledge, communication and cultural tradition. As the function of a public library requires, it is open to everyone – and that is why the shape of a transparent cube, a shining body at night has been chosen. As if books follow the precept of the first Lithuanian book inviting “take me and read me”…
