Friday, September 30th, 2016

Article source: Gottlieb Paludan Architects

The Foot and Cycle bridge, named Byens Bro(The City’s Bridge), provides a link between Central Odense and the new urban developments by the harbor. The bridge provides better access to the platforms of the railway station, while it at the same time creates a magnificent new landmark for Odense, Denmark’s third-largest city.

Campus Hall – Student Housing for the University of Southern Denmark in Odense by C.F. Møller Architects

Wednesday, April 27th, 2016

Article source: C.F. Møller Architects

The design of the new student housing for the University of Southern Denmark in Odense is based on a strong community spirit. The 250 student residences are located in three interconnected 15-storey buildings. This means that the residence has no front or back, but appears attractive from a 360-degree perspective. The building’s distinctive shape will make it easily recognizable on the campus, and clearly advertises its distinct residential content.

‘Dragen’ Children’s House in Odense, Denmark by C. F. Møller Architects

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Article source: C. F. Møller Architects

The integrated kindergarten ‘Dragen’ sets new standards, as a sustainable and pedagogically thought-through design. The components are largely ‘Nordic Swan’ eco-labelled. The construction is a certified passive-house, using a minimum of energy. And the children’s needs and well-being has been the main driver in the design.

The fundamental architectural concept is a simple and clear geometric form on two levels, with the children’s areas located in the best-lit southern end. The two levels are linked by staircases and ramps which are designed to stimulate and challenge the children’s sensory and motor skills.

THE TECHNICAL FACULTY – UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN DENMARK (SDU), ODENSE

The Technical Faculty is part of the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, and constitutes a shared research and education environment for four different institutes. The building is designed as one big envelope consisting of 5 houses connected by bridges at multiple levels crossing the heart of the house, a “piece of furniture” containing common functions and meeting-rooms, and giving access to a roof garden/café/lounge area. The many connections allow for more fluid boundaries, and more community and knowledge sharing.

Friday, March 18th, 2011

Designing a hospital in the size of the New Odense University Hospital (New OUH) extends far beyond land register, building structure, politics and law. Thus, the day-to-day experiences that patients, employees, relations or students take with them are of crucial importance. This is what the New OUH as an organisation and building should uphold.
