Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

Article source: Plano Humano Arquitectos

From the need to serve multiple functions, the Pastoral Center of Moscavide is composed by a set of facilities that include catechesis rooms, funeral chapels, and the parish residence, and these needs.

The close proximity and connection with the Church of Santo António of Moscavide, a building undergoing classification as a property of national interest, provided premises for dialogue and framing. The two buildings stand out as landmarks of two eras that, although different, complement each other as reference points in the community.

Hello Lisbon Castelo in Portugal by Andre Espinho Arquitectura

Sunday, May 21st, 2017

Article source: Andre Espinho Arquitectura

This kind of intervention stands for a new approach and vision on the built heritage of big cities which, most of time, are left to abandonment and abrasion of time for different reasons, either these are historical, social or economic.

In this example we can highlight the Investor´s will and initiative, along with the knowledge of technicians, Architects, Engineers and builders to restore life and dignity to a building that was in a great state of degradation and which purpose has been mischaracterized over time. In a contemporary perspective and in it´s own context, we tried to enhance the experience of inhabiting the intrinsic features of the new and the old, in order to keep the most of the building´s character and expression also in the articulation of its interior space.

A Palace Returned to Nature

The complex history of the project and construction of the Palace of Queluz resulted in a present conformation that, on one hand, doesn’t reflect the original intent of its design nor, on the other hand, provides the architectural ensemble the opportunity of an urban experience that dignifies and values it.

AR Vinhos in Aveiro, Portugal by Paulo Martins, Arqto

Wednesday, May 17th, 2017

Article source: Paulo Martins, Arqto

Based on minimalistic and pure lines, this wine house project, located in Aveiro, is characterised by a plane that is at the center of the design, which flows around the entire space.

Following a gardened furniture at the entrance of the space (which is an allusion to the vineyards), the focal point becomes the flowing plane, which guides the eye through the space, passing by the exhibited wine bottles, and ending at the main counter desk.

The wine house is divided in two floors: the top floor with a more private space, where wine tasting and workshops can be conducted, and the ground floor dedicated to the comercial activity of the shop.

Ar de Rio Bar Esplanade in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal by Menos é Mais Arquitectos Associados, lda

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017

Article source: Menos é Mais Arquitectos Associados, lda

Architecture is not built without matter as it imposes a physuical limit.

The limits of this object reside in the precise definition of its structural ‘parti’ as much as in the desire of achieveing a limitless state.

The brief asked for a versatile space, protected from the seasonal changes of weather but open to the river breeze in warmer days.

The condition of its openings is such that the object becomes with ease a ‘covered’ esplanade.
