Ultramodern Casa Son Vida in Mallorca, Spain by Marcel Wanders studio

Thursday, December 8th, 2016

Article source: Marcel Wanders studio

Roots are attached to tradition but trees are directions to the future.

The first full residential project of Marcel Wanders, the 850m2 residence embodies Marcels’ vision in each of its curved corners. The conversion and extension of the Mediterranean sixties villa, gave birth to a friendly meeting between old and new. The subtle mix of classical and modern references is visible through the entire villa, from the classic profiled wall lining the curved space to the newly custom designed cupboards in straight yet classic lines. A unique atmosphere emerges as space is turning into a playground for reliefs and surfaces. House of contrasts and love between past and present, Casa Son Vida is “unavoidably exuberant and unabashedly outrageous.”

Centro Cultural y Escuela de Música in Madrid, Spain by Alberich-Rodríguez Arquitectos

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

Article source: Alberich-Rodríguez Arquitectos

The building site presents a trapezoidal shape quite similar to a regular polygon, with one of its ends curved, and the rest in angle. The building site is practically flat on its north half, and presents a pronounced slope on the south half. The building site’s slope develops itself in a north-south direction with a total drop of approximately 4 meters. The views to the west from the high part of the site are splendid.

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

Article source: Josep Ferrando Architecture

The architect Josep Ferrando resolves the complex urban conditions of the context and the site in which the house is located – less than 5 meters wide and with a particular topography that constrains the parcel between two streets situated at different heights – starting the conception of the project from the shaping of the volume.

House in Rubielos de Mora, Spain by Ramón Esteve Estudio

Saturday, November 26th, 2016

Article source: Ramón Esteve Estudio

The essence of this project is a revision of a stately house, the traditional rural house that forms the old quarter of Rubielos de Mora and so the surroundings of our building. The traditional architecture is reviewed with a modern view so the house is integrated in its historical surroundings but it is also related to our present time. The external façade adheres to the style, materials, colours and proportion between solid and void of the historic buildings around.

Rural Tourism Houses in Molino Lucero, Spain by elisavalero arquitectura

Friday, November 25th, 2016

Article source: elisavalero arquitectura

The plot where this work is situated was formerly a horse patio for the farm called Molino Lucero, at a crossroads between the Guadalteba reservoir and the town of Teba in the province of Malaga. The irregular, trapezoidal shape of this 475-meter plot and its access to an existing road on the north side were important determinants of the project. We also took into account the fine views of La Estrella Castle to the northeast, and the mountain range to the north and northeast.

The project is inspired by vernacular constructions with white walls and vertical openings and the criteria for this intervention were rationality, straightforwardness and good functioning.

Municipal Auditorium Of Lucena in Cordoba, Spain by MX_SI architectural studio

Thursday, November 24th, 2016

Article source: MX_SI architectural studio

The building project housing the Municipal Auditorium at Lucena recognizes the importance of the proximity to the river, the city’s exhibition centre and integration with the landscape as well as the extreme climatic conditions of the area.

The walk along the river provides a spatial sequence based on different gradients of open, semi-covered, covered and enclosed spaces. As a prelude, a large space or open forum is created for crowds to congregate at concerts and outdoor events.

Mont-Àgora in Barcelona, Spain by Pere Puig arquitecte, SLP

Thursday, November 24th, 2016

Article source: Pere Puig arquitecte, SLP

Santa Margarida de Montbui was a small municipality that the great immigration wave of the nineteen fifties and sixties turned into a dormitory town on the industrial outskirts of Barcelona.

In recent decades it has gradually acquired the basic services that it severely lacked: urbanisation of streets, health care facilities, schools, etc. Still missing though is a cultural centre capable of housing a library, conference room, auditorium and classrooms. In some way, this building represents the end of a trajectory from slum to city.

Salcedo Social Center in Galicia, Spain by Santos y Mera Arquitectos S.L.P.

Thursday, November 24th, 2016

Article source: Santos – Mera arquitectos

In a cluttered environment we propose a refuge, a wood in small forest cabin, a palisade that filters views but at the same time makes it very open, very permeable to the nearby environment and especially to the square and the adjacent green area a haven. The interior volume is modeled generating small courtyards, transitional spaces where shown the interior wood skin that only comes out in the big hole that crosses the fence to look out over the square giving continuity to the large multipurpose space, allowing incorporate outer space for outdoor activities. One of the courtyards, become larger and more permeable, and it serves like a space for access to the building “patín” mode of traditional houses in the area. The simplicity of volume, color and texture must be enough to convert the center into a small local and an urban reference, giving a friendly and easily recognizable image.

Physical Therapy Clinic in Granada, Spain by CUAC Arquitectura

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016

Article source: CUAC Arquitectura

Stretchers, hoola-hoops, wedges, rollers, bosus, Pilates balls of various sizes… It would be a shame to hide all the tools that allow for physiotherapy exercises to occur in a clinic that lacks technological machinery. If there is something that characterizes the commercial shop that previously stood on this site, is its exterior display, through the means of a façade opening. Continuing through it, in a passive way, its old exhibitionist framework and purpose.
