Les Algues Chill and drinks in Roses, Spain by Dom Arquitectura

Thursday, September 29th, 2016

Article source: Dom Arquitectura

The aim of the project is to renovate and repurpose the first floor of Roses’ ‘Hotel Maritim’, in a ‘tapas’ and drinks bar.

The hotel is located on the seafront of Roses, a traditional fishing village, specifically on the beach promenade. The main objective is to give ‘Mediterranean character’ to the new space. The first floor used to be a closed interior space and a small outside terrace, of 3m wide, divided by a line of sliding doors. The key idea was to eliminate that division understanding the space as a unique covered outer space. For that purpose, we placed on the façade’s edge glass curtains, sliding and folding panels such as those of ‘See Glass’. This move allowed us to unify the whole space, without any frame or division, connecting it to the outside beach promenade and the sea.

Tarragona, strategically located on a hill, has a close relationship with the Mediterranean. This geographical duality makes it possible to find such privileged places such as this studio, one of the few workplaces of the city with a sea view.

The aim of the project is to bring back the space used as storage for a long time and turn it into a wide and bright workplace.

The intervention was structured in three actions.

It is the extension of the Teresianas School of the c/ Ganduxer.

Because of its heritage value, the passage of time and the various education reforms, the school has been left without enough classroom space and recreational covered areas.

XVIII Century Traditional House rehabilitation in León, Spain by Marcos Miguélez Architect

Tuesday, September 27th, 2016

Article source: Marcos Miguélez Architect

The project is located in Ponferrada´s City Hall Square, next to the base of the Clock Tower, in one of the 5 gateways to the walled medieval city. This stretch of the wall remains intact due to its shared joint ownership with the cloistered convent of the Conceptionist, which has allowed its preservation until today.

The building corresponds to the traditional construction of XVIII Century houses in El Bierzo: rectangular, formed by volumes attached, with facade shield, courtyard, stratifying its uses by heights. The upper floor is devoted to housing, with a noble area in the square and another craft workshop in the courtyard. The ground floor housed commercial activities.

Creativity Studio in Alicante, Spain by ggarchitects

Tuesday, September 27th, 2016

Article source: ggarchitects

The project is born out of chef Quique Dacosta’s will to open to clients the creativity studio of his 3 Michelin stars restaurant, allowing people to have a gastronomic experience in the studio itself.

Because of Dacosta’s creativity and unconformity, what once started as a chef’s table ended up influencing the entire space. The influence was global, and all the knowledge, tools and techniques developed created new paths, new potential in two areas.

Article source: Fran Silvestre Arquitectos

Twenty-one plateaus and seven volumes tell the story of this house.

The aim of the project is to give a new and even identity to a house belonging to the same family for several generations. The original house formed by the aggregation of different interventions at different times, with different construction systems. Each of the rooms in the house describes a moment in life of this family story. Thus it was essential to maintain the structure, spaces, uses, garden and memories, presenting them in a new way.

REFURBISHMENT SIMÓN BUILDING in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain by Equipo Olivares architects

Tuesday, September 27th, 2016

Article source: Equipo Olivares architects

This project intervened in a site resulting from gutting the interior of two historic (listed) buildings. We conceived the new building from the conservation of the historic façades, whose stability was assured by buttressing them with a metallic structure. Taking these façades as our starting point, we worked out a strategy to erect one building where two stood previously. We then set out to consolidate the height of the new slabs. To bridge the gap in preexisting elevations, we placed the open staircase-patio on the front of the building at no. 33, setting back the new volumen. In this way, the slabs would not face old gaps.

The Project consists on a set of semi-detached houses located on the edge of the city of Barcelona, bordering Collserola’s natural area.

Three challenges backbone the proposal on the one hand the need for a formal dialogue with an existing house, on the other its integration with the surrounding green space and finally the possibility of incorporating passive and active systems that advance the building`s commitment to environmental sustainability.

4 in 1 House in Murcia, Spain by Clavel Arquitectos

Saturday, September 24th, 2016

Article source: Clavel Arquitectos

The 4-in-1 house is located in a quiet residential area, at the top of a leafy hill in the outskirts of the city. From an architectural point of view, it is possible to distinguish the four ways of living, after which the house is named, since they are spatially and constructively qualified:

1. The leisure experience. The basement, lighted by patios and skylights, is the scene for game and amusement. Fun starts in the car park, where see the swimming pool can be seen from a “rear window”. The pavement, made out of stained stamped concrete, solves the contact between the house and the ground. This level, in the form of a zigzagging fissure across the plot, houses the vehicle access and the car park.
