New Public Theatre in Xàtiva, Spain by Arquitectos Ayala

Sunday, May 26th, 2013

Article source: Arquitectos Ayala

When this contest was announced, we went up to the Mont Sant, near the old fortress, to see the chosen plot from above. The large avenue called “Alameda” (or “Albereda” as it is called in Xativa) divides the old part of the city from the rest of the town. With a great difference of height between the “Albereda” and the back street (6m.) as the classical theatres were placed, the building was adapted to the different levels of the ground. At the back, there is the building of the music society.

Palenque. Sevilla. Expo-92 in Spain by Arquitectos Ayala

Saturday, May 25th, 2013

Article source: Arquitectos Ayala

Palenque: a platform, ring, area or the like, used for different forms of entertainment, surrounded by seats for spectators and made with posts or stakes. The definition above is a good one for an entertainment area which is physically, detached from the tirening atmosphere of the Fair. This is a Fair for the XXI century and, therefore the building must be technologically advanced, but at the same time simple in its form and easy and fast to build.

Saturday, May 25th, 2013

Article source: Arquitectos Ayala

The new bridge of Villanueva de la Serena is located on the EX-351 road, which crosses the river Guadiana, right next to the entrance into the town. It is set in a rural landscape that shows a lot of human intervention and in which we find some civil infrastructures and vegetation not planted by man’s hand.

Article source: Arquitectos Ayala

This was the first prize in a restricted national contest announced by the “Madrid Autonomous Region” and the Getafe Town Council. Once we had won the contest, we talked to the jury, composed of four architects. They told us the had very much liked the plan and that it bore a great resemblance to the monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial in its ground plan and size, which made it even more interesting.

Secondary School Navalmoral de la Mata in Caceres, Spain by Arquitectos Ayala

Saturday, May 25th, 2013

Article source: Arquitectos Ayala

Children do not remember the classrooms in their school but the playing grounds, the corridors and the yards; on the other hand, they also remember the good teachers and some anecdotes with their fellow students. These memories, that accompany them for their whole life, depend very much on the Architecture because it makes possible to change into joyful what could be, sometimes, only sad or melancholic memories. The purpose in this project was to have a clean, bright and cheerful building.

Tsm3 Unstable House in Madrid, Spain by Carlos Arroyo Arquitectos

Friday, May 24th, 2013

Article source: Carlos Arroyo Arquitectos

TSM3  Unstable House combines the restoration of the ground floor of a 59,80 sqm terraced property in the centre of Madrid, and the construction of 2,5 new floors on top, with 154 sqm. The design dematerializes the original construction into a flexible home-cum-office that can change anytime. All the elements that define the living space are in a state of flux. The architecture does not seek to define and limit through fixed elements such as structures, walls or gaps, but rather through a series of devices producing actions or situations.

Article source: Castell-Pons Arquitectes

The project combines the preexistences and the urban development conditions, to interact with the users’ way of life.

City. Interaction architecture – surroundings.

On the one hand, we try to give a response to the complex surroundings by raising a building with an own geometry. A volume with different heights that takes the most advantage of solar orientation and ventilation where the game between emptinesses, hollows and interior court gets the maximum use of the space.

Information Point And Pavillion Acces To The Natural And Archeological Site Of “Els Turons De Les Tres Creus” (Montmeló-Montornés Del Vallés / Bcn) 2008-2012

In the natural setting of “Turons de les Tres Creus” , surrounded by a highly fragmented metropolitan area and linked to the archaeological site of “ Can Tacó “, arises the need to project some places previous an area with a great natural and archaeological interests. Give value set conditions, report the high heritage value of the site, and understand the genuineness of the mountain as a structural element of biodiversity in a highly fragmented and anthropized by man, are the main aims of this proposal.

Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

Article source: Fernandez-Abascal & Muruzabal + Ortiz y Barrientos + Pesquera Ulargui Arquitectos

In the last decades of the nineteenth century, thanks to the Comillas Lord, the town became a hub of the incipient Catalan Modernism. The seminary began with some sketches of Jesuit and Engineer Miguel de Alcolado, later on Joan Martorell and Lluis Domenech i Montaner started to work in the project giving the building the monumental and desired style.
