PK79 (Petchkasem 79 residence) in Bangkok, Thailand by Ayutt and Associates design (AAd)

Thursday, June 9th, 2016

Article source: Ayutt and Associates design (AAd)

PK79 is located on Petchkasem 79 road, Bangkok, Thailand where is known as the suburban residential area. The site location is in the middle of wasteland zone, remotely from the city and low density of population effected directly to the safety issue. The neighborhoods of this area live quite far apart from each other. The security issue becomes the main problem for this area and Thai architecture. Most of households solve this problem by adding the “wrought iron screens” as a protection screen to all doors and windows preventing thieves or other invaders. Which somehow make the owners feel uncomfortable and ends up being confined in their own residence and also causes negative effects like terrible shape, view blocking, and extra maintenance. Although today world can solve this problem with various technologies, most Thai people still feel insecure to live in a house without these secondary screens. We live in these skins for years and years becoming unconcerned about it. This gives an architect a design question to develop the façade which works as a protector, but at the same time improves living quality by creating space hierarchy and special characteristic. Ayutt and Associates design (AAd)’s result turns out that the house has the special protection screen, which works multi-function as a house feature facade, space divider, a wall, a sun- heat protector, air buffer zone and air ventilation.

W HOUSE in Pak Chong, Thailand by IDIN ARCHITECTS CO.,LTD.

Friday, April 15th, 2016

Article source: IDIN ARCHITECTS CO.,LTD.

The design concept of W-House is derived from the requirement that the owner would like the house that expresses his character in terms of space and form. Therefore, the design subject was how to interpret the owner’s lifestyle and passion into architecture. The idea initiated by the owner’s favorite activity of traveling and kayaking. There was one picture of a boat sailing on the river that has inspired the designer. The river acts as a supporter for the boat. As a house, the function areas of living room, dining room, and service are supporters for the private areas of bedrooms. The bedrooms are like the boat which the river is supporting underneath for sailing. The idea was developed into the building orientation by maintaining the basic elements but completely reveal the story, functions and context.

LSR113 (Lake Side Residence) in Bangkok, Thailand by Ayutt and Associates design (AAd)

Thursday, December 10th, 2015

Article source: Ayutt and Associates design (AAd)

“We are not saying that This house is 100 percent Thai, But at least it’s a try”

LSR113 is situated on Bangna road, Samuthprakarn, Thailand, on the lakefront plot of private housing property known as ‘Lakeside villa’. The house is built as one-family house which provided a flexibility to be expanded into multi-family for the future. The briefs that designer received from the client was for functional spaces like any normal house, though what they really liked were square, modern style house, but they asked that it should not be hot inside and has to suit with Thai Climate.  Even though the usable space of the land is limited, but the client still wants a large greenery area to enjoy, as well as a modern house with sun shades and rain protections. This is the most challenge part for the designer, who has to configure the modern language of architecture in a way that would suit the hot and humid climate of Thailand.
