Casa en La Cañada in Valencia by ANTONIO ALTARRIBA COMES. ARCHITECT

Monday, March 26th, 2018

Article source: ANTONIO ALTARRIBA COMES. ARCHITECT

The house is located in a peaceful neighbourhood called La Cañada, Valencia. The plot is rectangular-shaped, placed in the corner of two main streets and with two boundary walls  towards neighbours.

The main idea of the project is making up a building with two clearly distinct volumes, in shape and materials, which are related within themselves by emptying them as a sculpture, using patios and double heights.

Office Building 1905 in Valencia, Spain by FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

Monday, March 12th, 2018

Article source: FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

There is a distinct pleasure in restoring an old object. Let’s take for instance an old flexo, one of those that were used in the drawing tables of the technical offices. First, to understand it, disassemble it with care, clean the rusted parts, repaint it, chrome the elements that require so, replace the old cable with one that resists the new voltage and do the same with the lamp holder and the switch, search in unexpected places for a new coil to replace a damaged one. Intervening only where is necessary provides the object with a new life, thus displaying itself, a hundred years later, ready, as newly manufactured.

Yesterday’s House in Valencia, Spain by Raul Garcia Studio

Sunday, February 18th, 2018

Article source: Raul Garcia Studio

Architecture arises from the need to give shelter to human beings from climatology. Aesthetics is then added to this practical component. Therefore, generating a ‘shelter’ that protects us from the outside while allowing us to be in perfect contact with the same on both sides is a really attractive idea. From this premise arises the refurbishment of this house, open to the outside through a backyard. In addition, as always, natural light penetrates the interior through skylights and interior partitions crowned with glass that provide zenithal light to the whole space. The program is divided into two heights, the lower one with the day program and the upper one that collects the bedrooms and other nocturnal uses. The backyard can be read as much as a continuation on the exterior of the home, as an extension of the garden that culminates in a barbecue and living room. And it is precisely this duality that allows the boundaries between architectural spaces to blur.

Tectum. Summer Pavilion in Valencia, Spain by Raul Garcia Studio

Friday, February 16th, 2018

Article source: Raul Garcia Studio

This building is located on a plot of 4000 m2 with the purpose of becoming the focus of main activity of housing in the summer months. For this, a pavilion is created totally open to the garden as a continuity of this one. It is a completely permeable construction, but with its own very marked identity, because the deck slab defies gravity by means of the imposing cantilever which, because it has no supports, is directly linked to the pool, being only a roof that ‘floats’ to generate shade in the rest of the program: an open kitchen with barbecue and a traditional oven, a large arbour, and the toilet area and dressing rooms to service the pool. The hidden perimeter lighting still further highlights the slab’s lightness, while the Corten Steel lagging provides a modern look that fits seamlessly with the main house.

Doctor Manzana second flagship store in Valencia, Spain by Masquespacio

Tuesday, January 30th, 2018

Article source: Masquespacio

Masquespacio just finished the design for Doctor Manzana’s second store, specialized in smartphone repairs and gadgets, located in the University district from Valencia.

The history from Doctor Manzana and Masquespacio started during the summer of 2013 when their founders Fran and Reyes commissioned the creative consultancy to redesign their brand and create their first point of sale. Being the brand specialized in reparations of mobile phones and smartphone cases, above other accessories for smartphones, the brand reinvention focused mainly on the 54 degrees angle of touch screens. That angle was applied both to the brand as well as to the interior design, besides four different colors: green and blue as a reference to the doctor, salmon for the fashionistas and purple for the geeks. Metal on the other hand adds an industrial touch that reminds us of the laboratories.
