This week, you have a special opportunity to tour an eco-friendly, sustainable, healthy and efficient home – designed in ARCHICAD by the creator of Northern Illinois’ first certified passive house; Tom Bassett-Dilley Architect, Ltd.
On May 9th, Tom Bassett-Dilley of TBDA, Brandon Weiss of Evolutionary Home Builders, Jason LaFleur of Eco-Achievers, and Matt Fordham of ENVIRONMENTS Studio will lead a tour of their Oak Park home. You will be able to learn about smart, healthy and efficient living during this free event.
As told to the Chicago Tribune in a recent article, Bassett-Dilley says, “this is a “right-sized” new home, designed in the Passive House paradigm, but being certified under the LEED program. While its space planning and technology are entirely 21st-century, its form echoes the scale and detailing of its bungalow and foursquare neighbors. Indoor-outdoor experience is optimized with a front screened porch, complete with a wood-burning fireplace.”
“We really care about not poisoning our clients,” Bassett-Dilley said. “To me, this passive house way of building is about both health and efficiency. Not just do less harm, but actually do good for people.”
The floor plan is simple “but every function is just perfectly tailored to what they needed,” Bassett-Dilley said. “It’s performance informing design and design making an expression out of the performance,” he said.
TBDA has been chronicling the creation of this home in his “From the Field” updates – now see it all come together. Register here.
