BE&K recently conducted an evaluation of AVEVA's Laser Model Interface to see how it could impact our working procedures. Before using Laser Model Interface, it took us four steps to go from capturing as-built conditions with 3D laser scanning, to being able to use and modify that information inside AVEVA PDMS: a scanner vendor application, a CAD application, and PDMS, with translators back and forth between each one. We implemented Laser Model Interface on a trial project and found that we could reduce this process to a single step. We expect this streamlined process to save more than three hours per pipe modelled and to significantly reduce the risk of error.'
