Xinjiang Jinhui Zhaofeng Energy Co. Ltd. retained Hamon to design the CNY 45 million steel structure for the air-cooling island at the CNY 3 billion Xinjiang Jinhui Power Plant located in the Baicheng Heavy Chemical Industrial Park in Baicheng County, Xinjiang, China. The air-cooling island will cool off steam produced by the turbines in 2x300 megawatt generator sets. It is considered one of the largest water and sewage service providers in the world, supplying potable water to 27.7 million people. Two pump stations, Vila Bela and Jardim da Conquista, pump water from the Rio Claro aqueduct, each through an 800 millimeter pipe. The Vila Bela pump station supplied the Jardim da Conquista tank with an average flow of 708 liters per second, and the Jardim da Conquista pump station supplied the Jardim São Pedro tank with an average flow of 388 liters per second. This Jardim da Conquista pump station suffered electrical shutdowns due to failures in the supply of the power utility. Keeping the Hallandsås Tunnel Project on Track The construction of a railway tunnel through the Hallandsås ridge in southern Sweden has a long history, but the end is in sight with the start of traffic services scheduled for late 2015. To help meet the demanding project schedule and the challenges of performing tunnel excavation and detailed engineering design in parallel, Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration, chose to advance its use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) practices with the help of Sweco Infrastructure AB. Sweco was given the responsibility for all BIM related strategy and coordination of the Hallandsås project including helping the project team implement effective BIM processes to optimize production, develop integrated 3D models through a collaborative design process, and use that information throughout the project lifecycle. The successful BIM implementation on this project, using Bentley(reg) ProjectWise(reg), MicroStation(reg), InRoads(reg), Bentley Rail Track, and Bentley Navigator, has resulted in innovative methods, reusable resources, a reduction in costs, and productivity improvements that help keep the project on schedule. Robin Partington & Partners (RPP) designed the GBP 135 million building with 8,140 square meters of retail space at basement, ground, and first-floor levels on Oxford Street; 15,140 square meters of Grade A office space on seven floors with a prestigious west-end address on Park Street; and 5,430 square meters of residential space for 39 private flats with a discrete east-end entrance on North Row. The building's curvilinear, fully glazed facade presented the technical challenge of bending glass to its limit.
