Fi-Foil To Reintroduce Continuing Education on Reflective Insulation

July 03, 2012 -- AUBURNDALE, Fla. – A growing body of research documenting reflective insulation as the “best application” for common building assemblies has prompted Fi-Foil Company, Inc. to advance this industry knowledge to building professionals through continuing education.

“In addition to reflective insulation’s known ‘best applications,’ we’ve recently introduced gas filled panels (GFPs), and hybrid spray foam/reflective insulation systems,” said Bill Lippy, President of Fi-Foil.

The new course entitled: Advanced Technologies in Insulation, coincides with several recent accolades for Fi-Foil’s new and innovative reflective insulation products introduced within the past year as well as the release of new independent research on its time-tested radiant barriers.

Fi-Foil’s Flash & FOIL® was named 2012 Money-Saving Product in the June edition of BUILDINGS magazine, which showcased the new Hybrid Insulation System that combines two technologies, spray foam insulation and Fi-Foil’s VR Plus Shield™ Reflective Insulation.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory independently documented the energy efficiency of rafter-applied sheet radiant barriers. A technical paper on the research was delivered April 16 in Phoenix at the ASTM C16 committee’s semi-annual meeting that stated radiant barriers save on cooling and heating costs in buildings.

Another award-winning new Fi-Foil reflective insulation product was its Gas Filled Panels (or Attic Armor for residential applications), which won Product of the Year at the Global Insulation Conference & Exhibition held September 2011 in Toronto.

The new education course covers industry standards for reflective insulation, attic radiant barriers, GFPs, as well as the hybrid systems. The course also provides assistance on how the insulation materials can assist architects and contractors with potential LEED certification of green buildings.

The course is the second time Fi-Foil has provided industry professionals with a continuing education course on designing and installing reflective insulation. Most presentations of the course are at no cost but potential course takers must contact a Fi-Foil representative to schedule the class.

Fi-Foil is a registered AIA Provider for the South Atlantic Region (DE, DC, FL, GA, MD, NC, SC, VA, WV, and PR) and the course is approved for 1 hour of AIA Sustainable Design, and Health, Safety and Welfare (SD/HSW) Learning Units (LUs). AIA members as well as all members of the building project team can gain  1 hour toward meeting their continuing educational requirements by completing a course session.
