New Block Based 3D Modeling Software, Capable of Creating 3D Printable Objects, Virtual Reality Worlds and Interactive 3D Websites Coming Soon to Kickstarter

NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 9, 2016 — (PRNewswire) — ScratchyCAD is preparing to launch a Kickstarter to fund its parametric 3D design software. This new software allows the user to create programmed 3D objects in a block-based programming language. ScratchyCAD will not only allow users to create and modify 3D models for 3D printing, but is also capable of generating animations, videogames, and interactive 3D websites that can be viewed in virtual reality headsets.

What makes ScratchyCAD unique is how it brings together computer programming and computer-aided design (CAD) in a simple interface with drag and drop style blocks.  The user is able to access complex programming functions to define objects such as shapes, arrays, materials, lights, and simulations. Advanced 3D modeling software takes this parametric approach to automate complex design tasks allowing for faster iteration during the design process.

"ScratchyCAD is a great tool for learning complex concepts like algorithmic and parametric design in a simple to use, beginner friendly interface, while maintaining enough complexity for advanced users to create 3D printable objects, VR worlds, simulations, and animations," says Juan Carlos Orozco lead developer and author.

ScratchyCAD will release a set of courses focused on beginners and entry level learners as part of their Kickstarter campaign.  Each of these courses will highlight different applications of ScratchyCAD such as parametric modeling for 3D printing, video game design, interactive website development, virtual reality, and using ScratchyCAD in the classroom for STEAM education.

Architects, engineers, and professional designers use complex parametric software, and with ScratchyCAD, new users will quickly grasp the drag and drop style learning platform.  Parametric and generative modeling is common when creating 3D models that solve real world problems. Some advantages of using these design tools include mass customization for digitally manufactured objects, quicker iteration for collaborating design efforts, and a better understanding of the different variables applied in each user's design process.

ScratchyCAD's Kickstarter campaign is set to launch on October 1st with the ScratchyCAD team introducing the software at World Maker Faire in New York City. Their visitors will have a chance to learn and play with ScratchyCAD alongside its creators.  With a funding goal of $25,000 USD, ScratchyCAD wishes to use funding to refine the user experience, diversify current features, and create didactic workshops for all learning levels to advance their designing and programming skills.  Those interested in supporting ScratchyCAD can back the project for as little as 10 USD in exchange for a PRO license which includes all features.
