Washington, D.C., September 23, 2016 –The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) invites working journalists to apply for an ASLA press pass to cover its 2016 Annual Meeting and EXPO, October 21-24, 2016 in New Orleans, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The theme of the 2016 conference is “A Celebration of Place.”

Founded in 1899, ASLA is the national professional association for landscape architects, representing more than 15,000 members in 49 professional chapters and 72 student chapters. The 2016 Annual Meeting and EXPO—the largest gathering of landscape architecture professionals and students in the world—is expected to attract more than 6,000 attendees, including world-renowned landscape architects who have created the iconic parks, gardens and other green spaces that help give communities an identity.
The annual meeting presents an unparalleled opportunity for the media to interview a diverse spectrum of industry experts and to learn about the latest trends, best practices and new technologies. Topics will range from sustainable design and related climate change issues to urban land vacancy, resilient landscapes of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, planning and design on the post-Katrina Mississippi, and more.
The EXPO—the largest trade show in the industry—will feature nearly 500 exhibitors offering thousands of new products, services, technology applications, and design solutions, all under one roof.
ASLA will also premiere its first virtual reality film featuring Toronto’s Underpass Park, which just won ASLA’s 2016 Award of Excellence in the General Design Category. The video will go live at on the EXPO floor from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23.
