HPDI Upgrades Energy Research Application with Canadian Data and New Features

AUSTIN, TEXAS, 4 February 2009 – HPDI LLC, a supplier of historical oil and gas data and decision support tools for the energy industry, has upgraded its web-based energy research and analysis application with the inclusion of Canadian Production Data and the addition of several new features. Effective immediately, HPDI clients will find the redesigned interface makes it easier to access and use the wealth of energy data and research tools available through the HPDI application.

“In today’s rapidly changing energy market, our clients in the oil and gas industry rely on HPDI to collect large volumes of data and make the information available to them in easy-to-understand formats,” said Larry Robinette, HPDI CEO. “The new HPDI application interface is part of our ongoing effort to offer HPDI research and analysis tools that integrate data seamlessly into their workflows.”

Energy companies subscribe to HPDI to obtain the historical information they need to plan engineering, marketing, and exploration strategies. HPDI aggregates historical U.S. oil and gas production data and drilling permits. The firm then offers this information through internet-based applications that enable clients to query the data and display results in a variety of graphical and tabular formats, including GIS maps, charts and tables. Clients can use HPDI tools to extrapolate data sets to predict future trends, or they can download the data to third-party analysis applications.

The newest addition to HPDI’s on-line production database is historical production data integrated from Alberta and British Columbia in Canada. At this time, HPDI is in the process of acquiring and integrating the production data from the rest of the Canadian Provinces.

“With the recent addition of our Canadian clients and U.S.-based clients with Canadian interests, we felt that Canadian data would be beneficial, allowing them to get a more comprehensive dataset rather than acquiring the data from multiple sources,” stated Corey Rhoden, HPDI COO.

All of the HPDI research and analysis tools are easy to use and come with simple online tutorials designed to allow users to quickly extract and display oil and gas data relating to specific operators, producing formations, activity dates, and geographic areas. HPDI clients will find the new interface is easier to navigate. New interface features include the following:

More Precise Well Spots – HPDI has employed the use of a new tool for calculating well spots, resulting in more precise locations. The HPDI application now uses footage calls when converting legal descriptions from public land surveys to calculate the latitude/longitude coordinates of well locations.

Land Grid Map Layer – HPDI has added a new nationwide U.S. land survey grid as a map layer in its online application. This grid facilitates the development of regional mapping projects and provides an accurate base map upon which other map data layers can be built.

Map Datum Options – The HPDI application now allows clients to view and download well spots in their choice of either NAD27 or NAD83 map datum. Either datum can be exported to third-party applications and presented as shapefiles.

The full suite of HPDI applications is available online for a free 14-day trial. Visit www.hpdi.com to learn more and take HPDI for a no-obligation test drive.

Since 1992, HPDI has provided the oil and gas industry with nationwide historical production data and drilling permit data that plays a critical role in energy companies’ planning and operations. Included with the data, HPDI provides customers with its web-based application, which allows users to perform complex queries, create extensive maps, export production data to a variety of analysis applications, create charts, and perform decline curve analysis. The company also provides additional data to oil and gas industry companies such as transporter data, gas plant and refinery data, pricing data, and marketing data.
