  • Meridian global reseller Intuitive Systems and ISV CubisOne to provide services to sync separate databases over Web services

FOLSOM, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 26, 2010 — Meridian Systems, the Plan-Build-Operate technology solutions leader for project-based organizations, announced today that David Boland, Inc. has selected the Prolog® solution to standardize construction management processes for its complex federal construction projects nationwide. David Boland, Inc., a Florida-based general contractor, is working directly with Intuitive Systems, an authorized Meridian Systems Global Reseller, and CubisOne, an authorized Meridian Independent Software Vendor (ISV), to synchronize jobsite data over the Internet.

Over the past 30 years, David Boland, Inc. has evolved from a modest general contractor, constructing small projects locally, to a nationwide general contractor with a diversified portfolio of civil and architectural projects including American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) projects and hurricane protection projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. One specific ARRA project involved the construction of a new east jetty and the dredging of approximately 400,000 cubic yards of material at the mouth of the Colorado River. Current hurricane protection projects include seawall reconstruction in Galveston, Texas along with levee and floodwall construction in New Orleans, Louisiana.

David Boland, Inc. selected Prolog software to proactively manage their projects, reduce risk and improve communication and collaboration. They chose Intuitive Systems to integrate Prolog software and ProIntegrator Sync software from CubisOne. Since jobsites are often located in remote areas, David Boland, Inc. needed to utilize a satellite Internet connection to synchronize jobsite data with their home office Prolog database. Using Web services, the ProIntegrator Sync product transfers data nightly to and from the home office to ensure the entire team is connected and has access to the most up-to-date data.

”Prolog combined with ProIntegrator Sync allows for better data exchange between our remote jobsites and our home office,” says Craig Hildebrant, construction manager for David Boland, Inc. “Where information was previously being handled in email, Excel and Word, project data is now stored in a centralized database. Our jobsites can easily access data and submit daily updates. Our home office now has better control over RFIs, submittals, and daily reports, and our field office will have up-to-date budget, contract and change order data on demand.”

“Since David Boland, Inc. was working on large government contracts in remote areas, a Web application simply was not feasible,” says Alessandro Chiarini, president for Intuitive Systems. “So, we implemented Prolog and designed the ProIntegrator Sync utility to synchronize their main office and the jobsite data during non business hours, allowing the two locations to operate at optimum computing speed at all times.”

Prolog software delivers total project management control for construction projects by automating day-to-day tasks and processes, from project design to close-out.
