“Today’s manufacturers must persistently push the limits of effective product design, constantly driving innovation, shrinking design cycles, reducing costs, improving quality, and bringing their products to market faster than ever,” said Kathleen Maher, vice president, Jon Peddie Research (JPR), the industry's research and consulting firm for graphics and multimedia. “Tools such as CadFaster|Collaborate help engineers, designers and other technology professionals maximize both productivity and creativity by allowing them to communicate and make real-time design inputs from locations dispersed around the world. Improving collaboration improves productivity.”
Key features of CadFaster|Collaborate
- Creates a multiuser solution that enables design teams to collaborate, co-view and annotate from multiple geographic locations
- Enables fast collection of feedback from every stakeholder in the design process without the need for software installations and high-end workstations
- Is functional even in low bandwidth environments and on notebooks and tablets
“With CadFaster|Collaborate you can review your Revit models in a genuinely live environment with multiple participants anywhere in the world,” said Carl Collins, CAD Manager, Arup Associates. “With its comment recording, in conjunction with showing the actual building component under discussion, you know exactly what each team member is talking about. The software provides a fast, live, interactive and simple collaboration process, even on the move. This has got to be the future. The question now is: what do we need drawings for?”
3D designs are distributed as portable executable files, which are generated quickly from CAD interface using CadFaster’s plug-in tool, and can be opened by standard computers including notebooks and tablets. Portable exe file includes a 3D viewer embedded with a compressed 3D model enabling independent viewing and accurate verification of the 3D design. Users without CAD design experience can participate in the design review process due to the ease of use.
Up to 10 people can join co-viewing sessions in which each person can contribute by presenting their feedback to others. Annotations can be quickly reviewed during the co-viewing session using pre-defined views. All annotations are collected in real-time on a cloud server so they are accessible anytime from anywhere. CadFaster|Collaborate was designed using CadFaster’s popular and reliable 3D engine, the fastest and most efficient 3D viewer on the market.
CadFaster|Collaborate is immediately available for two CAD platforms, Autodesk Revit 2011 and SolidWorks 2010. CadFaster|Collaborate will be released for all major CAD platforms within the next 12 months.
CadFaster provides its customers with proprietary and innovative software products that enable an ultra-fast 3D collaboration experience in professional 3D applications such as computer aided design (CAD). Based in Oulu, Finland, CadFaster was founded by a team of highly skilled and talented software professionals with 10-20 years of respective experience. CadFaster’s reliable and popular 3D viewer CadFaster|QuickStep has over 235,000 downloads to date. The technology development of the company’s newest product, CadFaster|Collaborate, began in 2009.
