  • ADAPT-Builder/Floor Pro 2010 offers streamlined process for vibration analysis and design of concrete floor systems

Redwood City, California – January 5, 2011 – ADAPT Corporation, the leader in structural concrete analysis and design software, announced today that its ADAPT-Builder/Floor Pro 2010 software can now be used by structural engineers to evaluate and design the vibration response of concrete floor systems with much less effort and time than with previously available methods. Typically, structural engineers use specialized software to model concrete floor systems and determine the natural frequencies of a floor system or hire specialized consultants to carry out independent analyses. This process requires the re-modeling of the structure, adds additional cost, is time intensive, and results in lengthy turnaround times between detailed design decisions and the assessment of a floor system’s vibration response.

ADAPT-Builder/Floor Pro 2010, however, includes integrated modal vibration analysis that provides immediate feedback resulting from detailed design decisions and how these impact the vibration response of a concrete floor system. Unlike traditional approaches, that create challenges in maintaining the same level of detail between the models used to carry out structural analysis and design and the one(s) used for vibration analysis, ADAPT’s approach streamlines this process by using the same model.

Special capabilities of ADAPT-Builder/Floor Pro’s vibration analysis include:

    • Modal vibration analysis of entire floor system
    • Isolate any portion of floor system, excluding noise from non critical areas
    • Ability to include the impact of non-structural members
    • Specification of mass participation of a floor and its attachments along each of the global axes
    • Considers pre- and post-tensioning
    • Allowance for impact of cracking due to in-service and user defined load cases
    • Optional recognition of presence of each reinforcing bar modeled by user

“We are very excited about these new modeling and analysis capabilities offered in the latest version of ADAPT-Builder,” said Florian Aalami, President of ADAPT Corporation. “For years our clients have complained about why their design of concrete floor systems for vibration has to be so much more inefficient of a process than what they can already do with existing steel design packages that offer integrated vibration analysis. ADAPT-Builder/Floor Pro 2010’s integrated vibration analysis is just another step in our vision to deliver a complete solution for the design and detailing of concrete floor systems.”

This streamlined and integrated approach will be of great benefit to structural engineers engaged in the design or retrofit of sensitive structures requiring a predictable vibration response. All ADAPT-Builder offers bi-directional integration with Autodesk® Revit Structure 2011, further streamlining the overall modeling, design and detailing process.
