Eagle Point Becomes Autodesk ISV

by Susan Smith

For over 20 years, Eagle Point Software has been providing solutions to the civil engineering and land development industry, and has been a member of the Autodesk Developer Network working with the AutoCAD development platform. The company has maintained a consulting role along with providing software solutions, to help architects and engineers improve their processes and be more productive, using the software they already have in place.

Recently Eagle Point announced its relationship with Autodesk as an Autodesk Independent Software Vendor, with their product offering, the Pinnacle Task Navigator for Autodesk Civil 3D software, which “integrates standard workflow templates aimed at increasing productivity by presenting “best practices” in a compact, intuitive interface.”

“We look at Civil 3D as being a viable development platform just like we looked at AutoCAD previously as being a good development platform. For that reason, it made a lot of sense for us to start working with Civil 3D,” said John Biver, president and CEO of Eagle Point.

Historically, Eagle Point has had civil engineering, design products and desktop solutions running on top of AutoCAD. Those products will still exist but they will run on top of Civil 3D. Although there is some duplication of functionality at the moment with those solutions, “We’ll take advantage of strengths of Civil 3D and then bring a better product to the market,” Biver concluded.

The Pinnacle Task Navigator for Autodesk Civil 3D, initially released in February 2007, is a process management system which helps organizations with their implementation of Civil 3D, including helping them get trained on Civil 3D, and attaining consistency between how Civil 3D is used for example, between one design team and another. Basically, it is an add-on to help Civil 3D become more productive.

While Autodesk benefits from the enrichment of Civil 3D with best practices, Eagle Point gains from Autodesk’s marketing to their more than eight million users worldwide.

Within the next 30 days, there will be a special version of the Navigator released that runs inside Civil 3D.

Biver said that Eagle Point is in the process of porting their desktop design solutions so they run inside Civil 3D. As time goes on, they will add applications on top of Civil 3D.

Other process management tools from Eagle Point run on both AutoCAD and Bentley.

ADAPT Corporation announced its relationship with

Deltek announced that 86 percent of the Washington D.C. area's top federal contractors are using Deltek solutions. The top 100 listing is ranked by Washington Technology's Top 100 federal prime contractors list each year.

Widespread concerns over the impact on the environment of building-related carbon emissions have been instrumental in raising the profile of 'green' building initiatives. As a consequence the adoption of low-emission building technology has allowed some architects and developers to punch above their weight in an increasingly competitive property market, and seen their work receive international attention. This is a key conclusion of a report published by Cambridge UK based analysts CarbonFree.
