-- Architects Standardizes on Graphisoft ArchiCAD for Building Design and Downstream Applications --
Boston, Mass. – December 12, 2002 – Graphisoft US, developer of the virtual building concept, today announced that the Triglyph Architectural Organization has selected Graphisoft ArchiCAD as its standard technology for building design, documentation and downstream applications. Triglyph is a nationwide network of independently owned architectural firms that work in collaboration to deliver outstanding service to clients. More than 50 professionals representing 12 firms have already joined Triglyph since the organization’s launch earlier this year. By selecting ArchiCAD and standardizing on Single Building Model technology, Triglyph associates will be able to share project information and take advantage of intelligent models to implement building data in downstream applications such as cost estimating, construction phasing and facility management. The mission of each Triglyph member firm is to provide clients with the responsive, personalized service that is the trademark of a small firm while having all the resources of the large firm. The collaborative organization also establishes the resources and central business administration necessary so Triglyph associates can compete with larger firms and offer a wide array of expert architectural services. Triglyph associates leverage their collective expertise, which spans across several design fields that include healthcare, commercial, corporate, government and residential design. The organization also connects clients with expert consultants in fields related to finance, operations, marketing, IT, real estate and specialized engineering. The selection of Graphisoft -more- ArchiCAD as the technology standard upon which design services and downstream applications could be shared across the organization is a strategic component in Triglyph’s business plan. For Kevin J. Connolly, co-founder of Triglyph and proprietor of a six-person architectural firm in Milwaukee, ArchiCAD finally delivers on the promises of Computer-Aided Design in ways competing products cannot. “Every release of Architectural Desktop was supposed to deliver intelligent modeling and never did. Autodesk never came through,” Connolly said. “ArchiCAD’s Single Building Model technology can be used for multiple building-trade applications. Designing a building in ArchiCAD isn’t just generating paper; it is creating an intelligent model and associated data that can be applied to a host of other applications. Each consultant will not have to redraw the project at each step of the process.” Energy analysis, 4D modeling and cost analysis are just some of the application potentials that Connolly hopes to explore in ArchiCAD going forward. “With ArchiCAD, the Industry Foundation Classes concept that we have been following for years is finally embedded in a software application,” Connolly said. Graphisoft is a member of the Building Lifecycle Interoperable Software project, an international partnership of companies and organizations dedicated to the development of interoperable software, and one of the leading 3D AEC modeling vendors to support the International Alliance for Interoperability’s IFC 2.x standard. “Triglyph is a new and innovative business model, enabling firm principals to leverage their colleagues’ expertise and compete with the largest firms in the country,” said Al Moulton, president of Graphisoft US. “It is no surprise that Triglyph associates selected ArchiCAD as their technology foundation, because it can work in a distributed environment, has the power to handle any size project and offers the productivity tools to help get their work done faster and more profitably.” About Graphisoft Graphisoft is a leading provider of building design and management software solutions for the architectural profession and the building industry.
