Meridian Project Systems Opens European Headquarters and Appoints New Director
MPS launches European initiative with former PTC vice president leading the way
FOLSOM, Calif. - (February 4, 2002) Meridian Project Systems (MPS), leading provider of software and e-business project management solutions, today announced the opening of its European branch and appointment of Klaus Heffels, former vice president of Parametric Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: PMTC), as its managing director for Europe. The new office, located in Dusseldorf, Germany, will serve as the hub of MPS European business.
After securing strategic funding from HOCHTIEF, the world's largest international contractor according to ENR magazine, MPS is continuing its overseas expansion, which includes developing opportunities in new geographic areas, as well as new vertical markets such as manufacturing and communications. HOCHTIEF is headquartered in Essen, Germany, and has current projects amounting to more than 13 billion EURO.
MPS selected Germany as the location for its European center of operations based on the country's high-volume construction industry. Germany is the world's third largest construction market, following the U.S. and Japan. To maximize its value to this key market, MPS translated its software and web-based construction management products into German and secured ASTA Development as its primary European dealer. ASTA is Germany's leading distributor of construction project management tools, with four offices supporting more than 5,000 customers and 15,000 licenses in German-speaking countries.
Klaus Heffels, managing director for Meridian Project Systems Europe, will spearhead MPS' European objectives which initially focus on managing and supporting ASTA and the other European dealers in sales, training courses, technical support and consulting services in the German market. Heffels will also further establish partnerships and product deployment within HOCHTIEF's worldwide network that includes subsidiaries and associated companies in South America, Western, Central and Eastern Europe, India, Australia, the Asia-Pacific region and South Africa.
"Meridian Project Systems is committed to long-term growth, quality software and web-native products. I am looking forward to using my experience in European sales development to lead the international expansion of such a dynamic, successful company by broadening its customer base and strengthening relationships with existing customers and partners," commented Heffels.
Heffels brings an impressive track record of more than 15 years of technology sales experience to MPS. He previously served as vice president of European sales development for Parametric Technology Corporation, the leading software company that provides and supports product development solutions to more than 33,000 customers worldwide.
"Klaus' position is vital to our corporate objectives," said John Bodrozic, president and cofounder of Meridian Project Systems. "We are striving for international success that rivals our domestic accomplishments, and I am pleased to have found an individual of Klaus' caliber to fill this key role."
Meridian Project Systems will rely on Heffels' leadership, ASTA Development's established network, and its own strategic partnership with HOCHTIEF to position itself as the top software and e-business project management solution provider in Europe.
