Inventor of Mathcad to Drive Product Planning, Management and Marketing
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 2002--MathSoft Engineering & Education, Inc., the leading provider of interactive math, science, engineering and educational software products and content, today announced that Allen Razdow has joined the company as senior vice president of strategic planning. In this role, Razdow will be responsible for product planning, product management and product marketing. MathSoft Engineering & Education, Inc. is a privately held company formed in January, 2001, through the management buyout of the Cambridge-based division of MathSoft, Inc., now known as Insightful Corporation.
Razdow has two decades of experience in Boston as an entrepreneur, inventor and technology leader. He was the technical founder of the original MathSoft in 1985 and inventor of its patented technology for interactive mathematics. Razdow, who holds an undergraduate degree in Plasma Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, also serves on the board of directors of the company.
As chairman of MathSoft, Razdow led the company's successful IPO in 1993 with co-founder David Blohm. He also held the positions of CEO and CTO at MathSoft, Inc., before leaving to become president and CEO of Torrent, a company that pioneered the application of parallel computing to large commercial data processing problems. Razdow was also co-founder, chairman and CTO of Acallto, Inc., which provides technology that lets Web sites serve telephone contact with people in the enterprise.
"Allen has a track record as a technology leader and entrepreneur," said Chris Randles, chairman and CEO of MathSoft. "He has seen companies through every stage of evolution and helped them leverage technological advantages into large-scale growth. Allen's business acumen and his technical experience make him ideally suited to help shape the future of MathSoft's product lines and, as a result, the future of software solutions for engineering and eLearning."
"Advances in software and Web capabilities have changed the markets for engineering design and eLearning," said Allen Razdow. "Our products have an ever-increasing role in uniting engineering teams and students and teachers in collaborative technology environments. Going forward, my mission is to help find new ways that our technology and know-how can move the engineering and technical education markets forward."
