November 15, 2007 — BALTIMORE, MARYLAND — Avatech Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: AVSO.OB), the nationwide technology experts for design, engineering, and facilities, announced the launch of five new productivity tools for Revit Architecture. Avatech originally developed these tools to increase the productivity and efficiency of their Revit implementation clients. Today, Avatech is releasing these five tools to all members of the Revit community: Room Renumber, Door Mark Update, Change Case, RevitCity Browser and an updated Revit Earth Connector for Google Earth. Developed by Avatech’s Software Development Solution Group, these plug-ins to Revit are available now for free download at http://www.avatech.com/web/revitutilities.
Room Renumber allows Revit Architecture users to automate the renumbering of existing rooms based on any user-defined order. Rooms can also be added to an existing series and subsequent rooms intelligently renumber to make space for the inserted number. "When we add a room to a project after we have already assigned all room numbers--which happens all the time--it's a big hassle to go back through the whole project and renumber them manually," said Craig Thomas, BIM Coordinator, Leo A. Daly. "Avatech’s Room Renumber utility substantially cuts down our renumbering time."
Door Mark Update surveys all doors and rooms in a building model to determine the proper mark for each door. Specifically designed for companies who use the room that a door swings into as the mark, Door Mark Update allows Revit users to inspect and override suggested marks, and then updates all marks, compiling a new schedule and door tag annotations to reflect any changes.
Many design firms have standards regarding labeling, but sometimes they are difficult to enforce or are inadvertently ignored. In either case, mistakes are tedious to rectify. Change Case scans through a document set and enforces case standards, automatically updating BIM data for rooms and views to meet company, or client standards.
Revit City Browser allows designers to browse to the popular RevitCity.com web site directly inside of Revit, pull down content and add it automatically to their projects. The utility also assists users in renaming the content and storing it in the proper library folder – all in one step.
Earth Connector for Revit is an enhanced edition of the already popular Avatech product that allows designers to export building information models from Revit into Google Earth so that projects can be viewed in their surrounding environment. This latest edition includes 4-D construction phasing which allows designers, developers and owners to watch in Google Earth how phases of their project will be built over time.
"Our Software Development and Solutions team is constantly creating custom software and integration solutions that improve our clients’ performance and responsiveness," said Matt Mason, Director of Software Development Solutions at Avatech. "Our deep development experience in the design automation market gives our customers competitive advantages by extending and improving software systems and by automating processes."
