HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 2003--The Process, Power &
Offshore division of Intergraph Corporation (NASDAQ:
INGR) in first
quarter plans to ship the FrameWorks(R) Plus 7.2 structural modeling
and drawing production software. Key features in FrameWorks Plus 7.2
include automated offshore rig jacket creation, tighter integration
with Intergraph PDS(TM) (Plant Design System) along with a new
companion product, SDNF Import, as well as a number of other
improvements. Tighter integration with PDS includes the capability of
generating propagated structural models and scheduling batch
structural jobs without leaving PDS.
FrameWorks Plus (
www.intergraph.com/structural) is the integrated
structural module of the division's flagship software, PDS. The PDS
7.2 upgrade is detailed in a separate release.
The Huntsville, Ala.-based Intergraph announced and demonstrated
FrameWorks Plus 7.2 at DaratechPLANT 2003, the world's foremost event
for process plant design and engineering IT.
Automates Basic Structural Engineering for Rig Jackets
For rig structural design, the 7.2 version features a new offshore
command palette. Along with the new Place Jacket command, the palette
conveniently groups three existing commonly-used functions for
rule-based joints and enlarged sections (cans). Place Jacket
automation significantly reduces the time and engineering needed to
create a basic jacket design in the model. The Place Jacket command
creates the structure through a wizard in which users specify key
parameters. The Jacket Placement Wizard can model several different
types of jackets with up to eight piles. The engineer inputs key
requirements including section sizes, bracing elevations, pile
spacing, slope and jacket elevation data such as water depth, top of
leg and working and stabbing points. Options include automatic
creation of views and grids as well as application of SmartCuts to
SmartCut functionality, introduced in the previous version,
provides multi-member cutbacks and enables single- and multi-plane,
pipe-to-pipe and multi-object cutbacks while supporting all section
The Create Rule Based Joint command places, modifies or deletes
offsets on members to provide clearance for welding or work point
adjustment. Create Can places an enlarged section on a member or its
end. A related command, Modify Can Connection List, edits the
transverse member list for an enlarged section.
Additional offshore features in FrameWorks Plus 7.2 include center
of buoyancy calculation support and better connectivity options for
The new offshore capabilities are further enhanced through the
existing bi-directional integration with Engineering Dynamics
Structural Analysis System (SACS) and DNV Software SESAM marine
structural analysis software.
SDNF Import Speeds Process and Improves Accuracy
A new utility product, SDNF Import, handles bi-directional
integration between Design Data SDS/2 fabrication and detailing
software and FrameWorks Plus. Compliant with Steel Detailing Neutral
File (SDNF) standards, the product manages data transfer and provides
users a high degree of control over mapping options. Integration
allows users to update items such as gussets, joints and connection
details in the model sent to fabricators. Any new members placed
through SDS/2 are in turn updated in the FrameWorks Plus/PDS model.
The round-trip workflow with DesignData SDS/2 makes the process fully
digital to improve speed and accuracy as well as to significantly
reduce rework and manual fabrication tasks.
SDNF Import is included at no additional cost with a lease license
for Design Data SDS/2. SDS/2 encompasses all phases of the structural
process including engineering analysis, design and detailing as well
as computer aided manufacturing and data interfaces to other systems.
SDS/2 drives production of the most complete set of 2D steel detail
