Kristine Fallon Associates, Inc. Wins $30 Million GSA Nationwide IDIQ Contract

CHICAGO, IL, October 6, 2009 – In a highly competitive, qualifications-based procurement, the U.S.
General Services Administration (GSA), Public Buildings Services, Physical Capital Asset Management
Division has awarded a five-year, $30 million Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for
Nationwide Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Related Professional Services to Kristine Fallon
Associates, Inc. (KFA), Chicago.
GSA selected 10 teams from over 100 that submitted proposals in June, 2009. The contracts cover a
broad range of Building Information Modeling (BIM) services, including technology selection, training, 2D
to 3D conversions of architectural, structural, MEP and civil engineering drawings, model checking and
analyses, 4D modeling, clash detection, BIM-based energy modeling and cost estimating, 3D Laser
Scanning and software development. KFA’s five-year contract covers GSA Zone B, which includes GSA
Southeast-Sunbelt Region 4, Great Lakes Region 5, Heartland Region 6, and Greater Southwest Region
7 (see www.fbo.gov/spg/GSA/PBS/PHA/GS-00P-09-CY-D-0136/listing.html).
The KFA team is led by Kristine Fallon Associates, Inc., a woman-owned small business that combines
outstanding credentials in Building Information Modeling for design and construction, a long track record
of participation in AEC industry standardization initiatives, and successful experience in the GSA 3D-4D
BIM Pilot Program. KFA assembled an outstanding team to ensure specialized expertise in areas such as
energy modeling and commissioning, 3D laser scanning, cost management and custom software
development: Primera Engineers, Ltd. (Chicago, IL), Coast 2 Coast (Chattanooga, TN), Faithful+Gould
(Chicago, IL, Alexandria, VA, Seal Beach, CA) and Solibri, LLC (Scottsdale, AZ). This team’s combined
qualifications were crucial to winning the contract.
“This contract award is a great honor and a milestone for our company,” says Kristine Fallon, FAIA,
President. “And this is a particularly exciting opportunity because GSA is truly innovating with building
information modeling technology to automate design checking, improve quality and streamline project
delivery to their tenants.”

The General Services Administration (GSA), Public Buildings Service (PBS) manages over 350 million
square feet of workspace for the civilian federal government. GSA renovation and new construction
projects are located throughout the United States and include: Federal Office Buildings, Federal
Courthouses, Border Stations, Laboratories, Warehouses, Childcare Facilities, and other types of real
property. In July 2003, Office of the Chief Architect and Construction Programs (OCA-CP) established the
National 3D-4D-BIM Program. To date, PBS has initiated over 70+ capital projects across the nation
using an array of 3D, 4D, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in support of GSA
business needs. BIM visualization, coordination, simulation, and optimization from three-dimensional
(3D), four-dimensional (4D), and BIM computer technologies serve GSA in meeting customer design,
construction, and program requirements. GSA is committed to a strategic and incremental
implementation of 3D, 4D, BIM technologies. All major projects receiving design funding in FY2007 and
beyond are required to submit a spatial program BIM prior to final concept presentation. Further
information on GSA’s BIM Program can be found at www.gsa.gov/bim.
