ViewSonic Uses SmartASIC 3D Video Processor in Its VB50 Video Box

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2001--SmartASIC Technology, Inc.,a leading provider of digital display solutions, today reported ViewSonic® Corporation is utilizing a SmartASIC 3D video processor chip in its new ViewBox 50 HRTV which turns any ViewSonic Display into a high resolution television. This Video Box relies on a powerful SmartASIC STV102 3D video processor to process input video signals, and it can instantly turn an LCD or CRT display into a TV or multimedia center with multiple video entertainment connections. Incorporating SmartASIC's innovative scaling engine and proprietary motion-adaptive de-interlacing algorithms as well as other advanced digital signal processing (DSP) techniques, the STV102 is a high-performance video processor that delivers excellent picture quality at a very low system cost.

"SmartASIC is proud to be working with ViewSonic yet again," said Dr. Steven Kuan, chairman of SmartASIC Technology. "We have a solid history of supplying ViewSonic with high-performance LCD controllers. They know they can always count on us to deliver the key components they need. We are very excited to extend our partnership from LCD monitor products to the video display products."

"The ViewBox 50 HRTV is just the beginning of a new digital media box product line for ViewSonic," according to Marc McConnaughey, senior vice president of ViewSonic's Advanced Technology Group. "The STV102 SmartASIC scaler chip represented the best solution in its class for our implementation of the ViewBox 50HRTV."
