MANCHESTER, New Hampshire – September 19, 2016 - Terracon, a leading national engineering consulting firm with a personal and uncompromising commitment to everyone going home safely to their family each and every day, is proud to announce that Carl W. Thunberg, PE, geotechnical department manager, will serve as president of the New Hampshire Society of Professional Engineers (NHSPE) for 2016 - 2017. Carl’s goals as president are to recruit younger members to leadership roles within NHSPE, provide excellent continuing education events for NHSPE members, and to continue tracking the New Hampshire legislative docket for bills that could potentially threaten the safe practice of engineering by licensed professional engineers.
NHSPE is the local chapter of a larger national organization, the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). NSPE was established in 1934 by a group of professional engineers dedicated to advocating for professional licensure, the ethical and competent practice of engineering and enhancing the image and well-being of licensed professional engineers. They are the only national organization committed to addressing the professional concerns of licensed engineers across all disciplines.
A member of NHSPE since 2012, Carl previously served as vice president and president-elect. In addition to his role on the NHSPE Board of Directors, Carl is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Carl holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil Engineering and Hydrology from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and is a licensed professional engineer in Conn., Mass., ME, N.H., N.Y., and Vt.
