Archetris’ .EDU Program Launches with New York School of Interior Design and Münster School of Architecture

Sebastopol, CA,  09-27-16 - Archetris launches the new Archetris .EDU program with its first two members, New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) and the Münster School of Architecture. The .EDU program promotes the importance of the early design process through education and offers the Archetris Schema software and support free of charge to educators and institutions teaching programming and the preliminary design process to aspiring designers and planners.

NYSID, ranked in the top 5 interior design schools in the US by Design Intelligence, is using Archetris Schema as the primary design tool in the Programming of Healthcare Environments course, which is taught by Seena Hassouna and Daniel Russell of Array Architects. The class introduces the practice of programming to healthcare interior design and is part of the Master of Professional Studies in Healthcare Interior Design curriculum. The Münster School of Architecture is the top ranked architecture school in Germany. Its survey course on BIM, taught by Philipp Lammers, will present Schema as a tool to extend the BIM workflow into the earliest stages of project development.

“The architecture industry is beginning to recognize the value of the earliest stages of design – that putting more emphasis and resources into programming, stacking, blocking, and preliminary space planning results in better design outcomes and happier clients. Our goal with the .EDU program is to get this reprioritization into design education as well. We want to help schools educate future planners and designers on this critical early stage work. To that end, we are offering those teaching these principles free access to our Schema app for use in their courses,” says Bryan Almquist, Archetris CEO.

Archetris supports an informed design process and more productive design teams through its web-based application, Schema. Schema is built by architects for architects to resolve common workflow challenges with a brilliantly simple set of tools for programming, stacking, blocking, and space planning that work with Autodesk® Revit®. Schema differs from other tools by providing only the necessary functionality, without clutter or complexity, and works at an appropriate level of detail for the preliminary design process.  www.archetris.com
