Skanska USA Building Inc. Standardizes on J.D. Edwards 5 Collaborative Software

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 2002--

One of the Largest Construction Services Firms Uses Web-based Enterprise Software to Help Speed Customer Service and Increase Cash Flow

With a new infusion of J.D. Edwards 5 Web-based enterprise software, construction services firm Skanska USA Building Inc. is focusing on providing customers with faster service and online billing throughout its U.S. operations. As Skanska USA Building Inc. expands its use of J.D. Edwards software across its U.S. business divisions, its employees will use the Web for faster access to contract billing capabilities as well as project accounting, financial and human resources information.

"J.D. Edwards has been a supplier to one of our business units since 1999, and we've built a true partnership together," said Corren Collura, vice president of ERP Systems, Skanska USA Building. "We have made the decision to extend our relationship with J.D. Edwards because of their reputation in the construction market, dedication to customer relationships, and strong industry-specific products. We like that both their sales teams and senior-level executives know how we do business."

The education and Silver support services provided by J.D. Edwards over the past three years have created in-house J.D. Edwards experts at Skanska USA Building. Leveraging their IT employees' expertise, J.D. Edwards customizable training offerings, and the inherent ease of use of J.D. Edwards software, Skanska USA Building will partner with J.D. Edwards Consulting Services to complete the software implementation.

Upgrading to J.D. Edwards 5 will provide Skanska's nationwide divisions with consistent and flexible systems, including:

-- Project management applications that can be driven by project managers on-site but tracked centrally;
-- Faster access to fully-integrated, Web-based financial and human resource systems;
-- Contract billing capabilities that streamline processes by delivering bills to owners online, helping to speed customer service and increase cash flow.

"We are currently consolidating our businesses and want to remain decentralized - but integrated, and we felt that uniting the company on J.D. Edwards 5 was the best and most cost-effective solution for our $5-billion combined organization," Collura said.

To address the needs of targeted vertical industries, such as construction, J.D. Edwards structures its business around those industries. This strategy ensures J.D. Edwards has the right people involved, from senior executives to sales and services staff.

"Our company structure enhances our ability to quickly respond to our customers' needs, focus on specific vertical segments and adapt to shifting market demands," said Rich DiMeo, J.D. Edwards business development manager for project and service industries. "More efficient and nimble, J.D. Edwards is uniquely positioned to focus on our core vertical markets, such as construction, and on key customers like Skanska USA Building."

Skanska USA Building completed its new J.D. Edwards 5 software and services purchase in October 2002. The company will run its new J.D. Edwards software on an IBM iSeries platform with a DB2(R) database.
