TODAY, Friday, November 13 at 10:30 a.m. (EST), the Transportation Construction Coalition will release a new forecast of hiring, business and purchasing plans for the nation’s highway and transit builders during a media conference call. The analysis, which is based on a survey of transportation construction firms nationwide, measures whether the stimulus is helping or will help firms hire new and/or save the jobs of existing employees, as well as forecasts future business prospects, planned equipment purchases and other spending patterns.
Construction economists Alison Remo Black and Ken Simonson will outline the results of the analysis and explain its significance for broader economic growth. Ron DeFeo of Terex Corporation, one of the nation’s largest construction equipment manufacturers, and Dean Word, who runs an Austin, TX-area highway construction firm, and Joy Wilson, president & CEO of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association, will also be on the call to answer questions about the forecast and their own experiences.
