Automated Workflow Will Provide Full Visibility for Contract Management and Cost Controls
MENLO PARK, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 27, 2010 — Skire, Inc. ( www.skire.com), the leading provider of capital program, facilities, real estate and project portfolio management software, today announced that the New York MTA Capital Construction Company has chosen Skire’s Unifier™ solution for automating contract modification and project cost management processes on the MTA’s East Side Access Project. The Unifier platform will transform existing paper-based processes and enable the Capital Construction team to improve contract modification, construction management, document control and project cost control productivity. The contract modification process will be the first application to benefit from East Side Access’ deployment.
The East Side Access Project will connect the MTA Long Island Railroad’s Main and Port Washington lines in Queens to a new terminal beneath Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. It is expected to speed trips for Long Island and eastern Queens commuters and reduce traffic congestion. In the past, contract modification processes were based on spreadsheets and other standalone applications, and managing modifications could take one to two months. Skire Unifier will centralize contract information for use by employees who need it and provide full visibility into cost structures for over one hundred different contracts. The modification process will be automated to facilitate accelerated approvals and provide reports to project stakeholders.
Unifier is known for its industry-leading cost controls and ability to simplify the management of multiple funding sources. The project’s funding comes from a combination of bond sales, federal, state and local allocations. The Unifier platform will enable the MTA Capital Construction group to easily track and report on multiple funding sources for the project.
“We are delighted to work with MTA Capital Construction and play a key role in such a large project,” said Trenton Brown, executive vice president for Skire. “Cost savings and improved productivity are magnified over the scope of large projects and we look forward to helping the MTA team achieve its productivity objectives and expand these efficiencies to additional projects.”
The Skire Unifier business process automation platform has also been chosen by numerous transportation authorities and airports across the United States, including Phoenix, Dallas, New Jersey, Long Beach, Orange County and Hawaii, for managing programs, projects, resources and assets. With robust cost management and project controls capabilities, Skire Unifier delivers the best combination of pre-defined workflows, best practices, ease-of-use and adaptability.
