Autodesk, Inc. announced that The Stubbins Associates, an architectural firm specializing in the hospitality, education, science, civic, healthcare, and commercial industries, has standardized on Autodesk Revit Building software for their latest major project. Revit Building -- Autodesk's solution built specifically for building information modeling (BIM) -- mirrors the real world of architecture by letting architects and designers work on buildings holistically, rather than in terms of separate floor plans, sections and elevations. This enabled the Stubbins team to create a 21-story, 390,000-square-foot, full-service Marriott hotel whose main facade was inspired by the sails of the
boats along its Boston waterfront location.

Hunter Roberts Construction Group, a newly-formed full-service construction firm staffed with seasoned-industry veterans, has chosen CMiC's complete suite of software to run its operations, including CMiC Enterprise, CMiC Customer Relationship Management, CMiC Integration and CMiC Project Management. CMiC is a leading provider of enterprise and project management software for the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industries.

MGM MIRAGE has awarded Siemens a $100 million contract to provide technologies and services for the construction and renovation of Project CityCenter, a multi-billion dollar mixed-use urban development project in the heart of Las Vegas. Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2009.

WinEstimator announced its launch of Small Business Contractor (SBC), an add-on solution to Microsoft's Small Business Accounting (SBA).

Bentley Systems, Incorporated announced that BE Careers Network has expanded its offer of free MicroStation PowerDraft CAD software to all students and instructors to include versions in the following nine languages: simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, and Spanish.

The AIA Regional and Urban Design Committee (RUDC), the AIA Housing and Residential Design Committee, and the AIA Center for Communities by Design will collaborate in cohosting the conference, to be held October 7-9, 2005 at the Wyndham City Center Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Communities on the Line: Transit and the Design of 21st-Century Communities will reinforce the need for excellent design when planning transit-oriented development (TOD). Our agenda will include keynote addresses, engaging educational sessions, and a terrific selection of tours that illustrate the history and state-of-the-art practice for TOD and the role of transit in community building.

Targeted attendees will include AIA-member architects, local government and nonprofit representatives, developers, and transit professionals. Partnerships with the American Planning Association and the Urban Land Institute are being sought for this event to ensure that both public and private viewpoints are vested in the conference.
