The Congress will take place on the 11th and 12th May 2006 at the Madrid Trade Fair Convention Centre in the Campo de las Naciones. The organisers have had the collaboration of the Official School of Architects of Madrid and its objectives are to provide a meeting point for architects and professionals from companies within the sector; as well as being an international forum that will be a platform for analysis and the exchange of knowledge and initiative to promote contact between society and architecture.

The Regional Ministry of the Economy and Technological Innovation, through the State Office for Industry, Energy and Mines supports this project as a continuation of the work that it has been carrying out with the Stone Association of the Region of Madrid. This business organisation has the objective of the collective and professional representation of its companies, as well as the promotion and diffusion of natural stone from this region; these goals are shared by the Spanish Natural Stone Federation.

The Congress will display the trends and needs of architecture in relation to the society to which it offers its ideas. This is a major project incorporating all the entities, organisations and professionals that have a direct relation with or concern for Architecture, its evolution and diffusion.

The organisers of the International Congress on Stone in Architecture, with HRH the Prince of Asturias as its President wish to invite you to participate in this important event, which will be a challenge for all of us.

2nd China International Exhibition and Forum on Urban Planning and Architecture
    May 10 - 12, 2006

    Beijing , China

Approved by the Beijing City Government, and officially sponsored by the China Trade Promotion Commission Beijing Committee, this is one of the most comprehensive and well-attended exhibits on architecture and design in China. Last year, the show attracted more than 80 exhibitors from 10 countries, and 3,411 experts, developers, and officials who are primarily from design institutes, real estate development companies, construction companies, and local and provincial planning agencies. This is a great opportunity for American planners and designers to showcase their work to the Chinese.

We have negotiated with the Beijing Rongji Exhibition and Trade Technology Co. Ltd. for a discount rate of 20 percent for all U.S. businesses wishing to be exhibitors at this trade show through APA's sponsorship.

clients grows as firms continue to see the benefit of using our software. At Axium we believe the key to bridging the gap between generic software and enterprise software is letting firms know what they should expect from their software; a Client's Bill of Rights.

In 2006, Axium will highlight and explain 10 rights you have and should be aware of in purchasing a financial and project management software. We will focus and discuss in detail your rights in a series of webinars throughout the year. So, watch for our next mailer, register for our upcoming webinars and learn what to look for in a financial and project management software.

We will see how decisions affect the quality of the learning environment and the building’s design from multiple perspectives.
  • The University of Cincinnati has had a strategic plan for the last decade for new architecture to be built by "signature architects." The plan has included buildings by Morphosis, Gehry, Eiseman, Graves, and a CAE award winning project by Moore Ruble Yudel. What affect does this strategic plan have on the learning environment?
  • Many midwestern states have comprehensive building programs with varying requirements. How can architects create innovative learning environments within these programs?
  • Clients want to know what is the impact of building sustainable buildings.
  • What can we learn from the rebuilding effort occurring in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita?
  • CAE conferences are learning events full of educational sessions and building tours. As a bonus, a reception will be held at Zaha Hadid’s Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati. Don’t miss it.
    May 12 - 14, 2006

    New Orleans, LA USA

    The roundtable will include

—Meetings and work sessions with prominent state and city elected officials (AIA New Orleans has invited Senator May Landrieu), prominent educators, local architects, and others who are leading the recovery and rebuilding efforts

—A tour of the District 4 Neighborhood

—Roundtable discussions on next steps the RUDC and the AIA should take to support recovery and rebuilding

The RUDC is particularly interested in opportunities to collaborate with other AIA knowledge communities (including Housing Committee, Committee on the Environment, and Historic Resources Committee) and peer organizations. We welcome wide participation.

The spring roundtable is held once a year to offer AIA members and others interested in urban design an opportunity to meet with the RUDC Advisory Group to talk about the committee¡¦s priorities for the next year and to explore opportunities for the committee and the AIA to pursue public education and advocacy related to smart growth, sustainability, transit-oriented development, and similar issues that shape our communities.

Although the roundtable is usually held at AIA headquarters in Washington, D.C., we are making a unique departure from tradition in recognition of the extraordinary circumstances in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast. The RUDC is committed to follow-up the Conference on Recovery and Rebuilding that the AIA Center for Communities by Design helped organize in New Orleans last November to identify additional steps the AIA can take to support our colleagues in New Orleans.
