At Autodesk University,
Autodesk, Inc, announced a collaboration with Microsoft Corp. to seamlessly integrate DWF technology with Windows Vista using the XML Paper Specification (XPS). This initiative will provide users with the ability to view and manage DWF detail-rich design information without requiring additional downloads of plug-ins or special viewing software. The result of the two companies' expanded strategic alliance will simplify and extend project teams' collaboration for greater efficiency and productivity.
Intergraph Corporation, global provider of spatial information management (SIM) software, announced the completion of the acquisition of Intergraph by an investor group led by Hellman & Friedman LLC and Texas Pacific Group.
Intergraph announced on August 31, 2006 a definitive agreement with the investor group regarding the acquisition of the Company in a transaction valued at approximately $1.3 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, Intergraph stockholders will receive $44.00 in cash, without interest, for each share of Intergraph common stock held.
The completion of multiple buildings using
Archicad follows a three-month decision process involving detailed performance comparison between Archicad® and Autodesk® Revit®. The challenge set by the engineering division of the $400m revenue firm was to view and compare the functionality and features of both applications on a large project. Only Archicad proved to have the capability of handling a 40,000m2 building to CISDI's satisfaction.
Nemetschek North America announced that VectorWorks Designer was used to assist in designing the sets for the new James Bond film, CASINO ROYALE, which opened November 17 in theaters worldwide.
For CASINO ROYALE, art director Steven Lawrence used VectorWorks Designer to produce 2D drawings and site plans to assist the production designer and director in mapping out how action would take place within an area. Lawrence also used VectorWorks Designer to create 3D models of sets to help the team get a feel for a set before they arrive on location.
Adobe Systems Incorporated announced the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Existing Building (LEED(R)) Platinum certifications for Adobe's East and Almaden headquarters towers in downtown San Jose, distinguishing Adobe as the world's first commercial enterprise to achieve a total of three platinum certifications under the LEED program. Adobe's West Tower was awarded Platinum certification in July 2006. Last night, during a reception recognizing Adobe's certification of the West Tower, USGBC President and CEO Rick Fedrizzi announced the additional certifications.
Autodesk, Inc. announced that CO Architects has received the first Autodesk Revit BIM Experience Award. This new award honors firms for their innovation and excellence in implementing the Autodesk Revit platform for building information modeling (BIM) to create quality, complex designs and collaborate across the building design disciplines.
Primavera Systems, Inc. announced the winners of the 2006 Primavera(R) Excellence Awards during its 23rd Annual Conference in San Diego, California. The awards recognize customers for demonstrating the most innovative uses of Primavera software; growth in project, resource and portfolio management maturity; and establishment of best practices. The Fifth Annual Primavera Excellence Awards were presented in six categories:
Nemetschek North America is pleased to announce VectorWorks Architect user Sacco + McKinney Architects, P.C., has won a 2006 Build New York Award from the General Building Contractors Association of New York State (GBC) for College Park Hall at Union College. Its winning project was one of four projects chosen on the basis of excellent project delivery at all levels. The design-builder was MLB Construction Services, LLC.
Bentley Systems, Incorporated announced that its ProjectWise StartPoint, an entry-level collaboration tool for MicroStation and AutoCAD users, will connect to and extend new capabilities in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
ProjectWise StartPoint, which was unveiled in May of this year, opens the power of ProjectWise, one of the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry's leading systems of collaboration servers, to a broad population of new users and teams.
Cimmetry Systems, an Agile Software company, announced the release of AutoVue v 19.1 for SAP's PLM platform, Enterprise Central Component (ECC) 5.0. The combination of AutoVue and mySAP PLM fosters team collaboration and optimizes product development and document review processes.
AutoVue's SAP certified solution integrates with mySAP PLM, providing users with a single point of access to hundreds of document types stored in the mySAP repository for viewing, printing, markup and real-time collaboration. AutoVue's unique web-based streaming technology provides a high level of document security by ensuring that documents are never transferred to the client machines for viewing or annotation.
