New Products HP expanded its award-winning portfolio of mobile products with a new TouchSmart notebook and colorful netbooks, including the company’s first touch-enabled Mini. With thin, striking designs, the new models are engineered to provide an unsurpassed customer experience: The HP TouchSmart tm2 is a powerful, convertible, touch-enabled notebook PC encased in a sophisticated aluminum design with engraved illustration. The HP Mini 5102, HP’s first touch-enabled netbook, is designed for students and mobile professionals alike. It features an all-metal case in black, red or blue and offers a range of features, including face recognition for easy log-on to Windows operating systems and password-protected websites. gbXML2STL converts the geometrical information contained in gbXML files into the more common STL format. The latter is an older format in the Computer Aided Engineering field and thus more readily accepted by sophisticated and powerful simulation tools used in other domains of engineering practice. For simplicity, it is a command line driven utility, able to export relevant building components (openings, rooms and connections between rooms) as solid objects into a single STL file, or into individual STL files, discriminating them adequately. ZWCAD Software Co., Ltd. announced the release of ZWCAD 2010, along with its second annual design contest -- ZWCAD Design Contest 2010. Now available in 14 languages* and highly compatible with Windows 7, ZWCAD 2010 assures users of faster speed through memory optimization, improved features (In-Place MTEXT Editor & Splinedit) and enhanced application programming interfaces. Hard Dollar Corporation announced the launch of HD version 10, providing a powerful Historical Database, support for International operations, and improved usability and reporting. One year after introducing the Dimension uPrint — Stratasys says it has expanded the product line with the uPrint Plus – an enhanced version with lots of new features – while still keeping the price under $20,000 (USD). Like the Dimension uPrint personal 3D printer, the uPrint Plus has a small footprint for true desktop use [25 x 26 in (635 x 660 mm)]. uPrint Plus can print in eight colors of Stratasys ABSplus material, making it easier for designers to differentiate individual assembly components and better depict their product. The printer has a build envelope of 8 x 8 x 6 in (203 x 203 x 152 mm) – 33 percent more volume than the uPrint, enabling larger models. uPrint Plus offers two resolution settings – 0.010 in (0.254 mm) and 0.013 in (0.330 mm) – to give users additional print options. AVEVA announced the release of AVEVA Hull Finite Element Modeller, a powerful new addition to the AVEVA Marine portfolio which accelerates and simplifies the stress analysis of ship structures. AVEVA announces the release of AVEVA Mechanical Equipment Interface, a powerful solution to the problem of transferring 3D models between incompatible design systems. This flexible, user-friendly Geothermal Bundle is comprised of both the IES and the Gaia Geothermal Ground Loop Design (GLD) software suite. The Bundle enables geothermal HVAC designers/engineers to first calculate hourly loads data using the Apache whole-building dynamic thermal engine built into the IES . Tekla, Inc. and Innovaya, LLC. announce the release of Innovaya Composer for Tekla Structures. As a result of connecting their Tekla Building Information Models (BIM) directly to their project estimates, construction professionals have the ability to develop dynamic project take-offs and estimates quickly and easily. Vico Software announced that Vico Doc Set Manager is available and shipping. Doc Set Manager is a complete construction drawing set comparison tool for DWGs and vector-based PDFs. Vico Doc Set Manager automatically collates and compares drawings for construction projects; identifying changes and making it much easier to assign and track clouds and links to requests for information (RFI's).
